Conference vmsnet::car$note:carbuffs

    I had asked for input on Dynomax headers last month; since nobody had
    anything bad to say and the price looked good, I bought a set.  This
    was a decision that I quickly came to regret.  These things looked
    beautiful out of the box, but there was one small problem: they didn't
    fit the car.  I had a tough time feeding them up into place, but I
    finally got them bolted up to the heads and started to let the engine
    back down, when I heard scraping noises and the engine stopped moving. 
    I looked to see that the 3rd tube back on both headers were sitting
    right on the ends of the upper A-Arms!  Then I stood and watched as the
    pipes started to cave in under the weight of the engine.  But it didn't
    move too far though, because one of the other tubes hit the crossmember
    at that point.  The engine was nearly an inch too high to seat the
    motor mounts, and the tubes were hitting things all over the place.  
    Fortunately, I called Summit, and they agreed to take them back in
    exchange for a pair of Hookers with no hassle.
    
    The Hookers arrived yesterday.  I haven't tried installing them yet,
    but the routing of the tubes is totally different, and I can see
    already that there should not be a problem.  They are also made from
    considerably heavier tubing.  They were quite a bit more expensive, 
    but sometimes it is just not worth it trying to save a buck.
