    Got pulled over by Acton's finest over the weekend.  I was being
    a good boy, so i thought maybe the cop just wanted a closer look at 
    the Valk?  8^)
    
    Anyway, he said the reason he was stopping me was because I 
    didn't have any "eye protection" on (just a half helmet).
    I told him (honestly) that was the first time I had ever
    heard THAT rule?  I mean, typically I will shades if it's
    bright out, or prescription glasses at night -- but on a
    regular grey day?  Not typically.
    
    So, I question the cop, and then he says with the windshield
    he's not sure if that law applies?  I say I've never heard
    of such a law and am also clueless.  He looks over the bike,
    asks a few questions, and I'm on my way.
    
    So, just for my info -- what's the deal with eye protection,
    windshields, etc. etc. ?????

    	I always thought that it was required as well. The Mass. Blue Book
    should have something on this.

    	Eye protection is required in Mass. and a windshield is eye
    protection.  So glasses or goggles may be a smart move but they are 
    not required on a bike with a windshield.   Now this is not to say that
    Massachusetts finest have not slipped one by me, they may have passed
    new laws I don't know about.

    Ma, NH, VT, CT, = It a law that you must wear eye protection unless
                      your sled is equiped with a windscreen. (The law
                      in detail is that the windscreen has to be head
    		      high)

    Colorado also has an eye protection law.

    I'm in NH and the eye protection law has been `interpreted' several
    ways... actually it depends on whether you get a cop having a bad
    "rhoids" day. 
    
    I got stopped once on a bike WITH a full fairing, wearing a full face
    lid with the shield propped open just enough to keep it from being
    a sauna, and he STILL said I shoulda been WEARING eye protection...
    HIS "interpretation".
    
    "So what am I doing with this helmet besides WEARING it?", I asked.
    
    His teensy wittle bwain didn't have a comeback so I was down 
    the road pronto with no ticket.
    
    He shoulda been wearing a red rubber nose instead of a badge.
