    I did a DIR/TITLE="deflector" and found nothing, so this looks like the
    place to ask....
    
    I just bought a 1990 Dodge Grand Caravan and I'm considering getting
    one of those rear window deflectors that mount above the rear gate.
    Before I do, I'm looking for input from people who have actually
    used these.  Does the deflected airflow keep the rear window clearer?
    Or is it merely a scam to separate my $$$ from me? :)

  I had one of those on a wagon a few years ago.  It did seem to keep the rear 
  window and tailgate a bit cleaner, but in the winter all deflectors in the 
  north serve as great "snow catchers".

When Gene Ho gave me el-sheetbox back in '88 it didn't have a deflector on 
the back.  A couple of years later I cut up a wagon that had one so I got 
ahold of a riv-nut gun and installed the deflector.

The difference in the back window was amazing.  I can drive in a downpour 
and the rear window stays clean.  It used to get absolutely filthy before 
that.

One drawback is the fuel economy.  It will drop, noticeably, once you put 
the spoiler on.

I drove son-of-el-sheetbox for a few days with the new tailgate on it 
before I got around to putting the deflector on and I noticed the same 
thing with the fuel economy.
