59.1 | Amherst NH | GAUGAN::SANCLEMENTE | | Mon Apr 29 1991 11:51 | 14 |
| Anyone else go to Amherst yesterday? It was my first trip. They have
it once a month for the entire summer, modest in size. Probaby 100-150
cars in the corral, and another 100 or so vendors. It's in the middle
of no where. Looks like a former antiques flea market that has been
taken over by carbuffs. Anyway, I found a nice door for my 69 Shelby.
The one on the car has been dented and I am worried about getting it
straight. The guy wanted 100 bucks but he took 65. I almost didn't
buy it cause it was a 1/2 mile carry to the car. It did make the trip
worth it. Iam always amazed at the money people try to get for junk,
both parts and cars. A little pointer to people, never ever never
buy a car that the paint has been on for less than 6 months. To be
safe I would actually make that a couple years.

Yeah, a buddy of mine was up there selling stuff. He said they
got there at 6:00 am and there was NO more room left in the
car corral. I guess 3 weeks out of the month the flea market
is antiques and the other week it's cars. He says people
start leaving around 1:00.

59.4 | | CRISTA::ROCHE | | Wed May 01 1991 07:21 | 13 |
| I was at Amherst Sunday and it was packed. Took over a 1/2 hour to
drive the last mile, this at 7 am. The car corral was packed with
some interesting cars. '63 Impala, 327 complete, looked in decent
shape - $1850. '62 Grand Prix, 455 (definitely wrong engine), 4spd,
4:11 ex-drag car, $9500. A little steep, but a complete, straight
car. '69 Impala 427, black on black, hideaways, don't remember the
price. Lots of street rods. Prices in the parts area were kind of
high, as always at the opening of the season. Saw an interesting
smallblock chevy intake, 6 1 barrels, no price on it.
Your best bet is to get there no later than 6:30, 6:00 if trying to
get into the car corral, or wait until 9:00-9:30 when the early
birds are leaving.

59.7 | Taunton ->now Mansfield | GAUGAN::SANCLEMENTE | | Wed May 22 1991 11:47 | 15 |
| Went to Taunton this weekend. Only problem was my father and I are
dummies and we didn't realize they had moved it to Great Woods. I
stopped in to a newspaper shop and bought a Hemmings so we could
figure out what the heck was going on. Just as we were heading home
past Mansfield I figured it out. There was probably 400ish vendors
and 50 or so cars in the corral on Saturday. Maybe I'am spoiled
but there seemed to an awful lot of junk for sale. My father was
happy as he found a thermostat and a pair of shocks for a Dusenburg
and paid 30 bucks for all of it. There was a nice 396 69 Camaro in the
corral along with other muscle like a pair of beat 69 AMXs for cheap -
I can't recall the price. Also a mint 67 GTO for 15K.

For those fortunate enough to live on Colorado, the swap meet is at
the Adams County Fairground in Brighton. 8-5 on Saturday, 9-4 on
Sunday. The way one would get to this joint is to take I-76 north off
of I-25 (exit 216) and then take hiway 85 north off of I-76 (exit 12).
North to 124th ave/hiway 22 and take a left. Over the South Platte past
the golf course (on right) and park (on the left) to Riverdale Rd /
Yosemite Street. Take a right and you're there!

Anyone else going to Spring Carlisle. (Hey, how do you spell that?)
We're heading down thursday night. I've been to Hershey a bunch of
times but never Carlisle. Anybody got any idea how far out of town
we'll have to go to get a hotel room? Every year we go down to Hershey
without a room and we get one right at the holiday inn, 5 miles
from the meet. Of course, how that happens is long story.

The problem we found was the traffic jam getting to the place. The last day
(Saturday?) we gave up after sitting in traffic for an hour and came home.

don't know whether cars had left or the rows just didn't fill in.
There were quite a few nice cars there though.
One Stang that really caught my eye was a '66 fastback with a
289/4 speed. It was painted a dark cedar green with black
interior, with steel wheels painted the body color, no hubcaps,
and blackwall high performance tires. The car was clean and
simple, and looked neat.
I was only able to stay about 45 minutes - had my 3 month old
daughter with me for her first car show (break 'em in early!).
She hung in there like a trooper, til the sun started to get

59.72 | How to "Carlisle" | VMSNET::M_MACIOLEK | Four54 Camaro/Only way to fly | Mon Apr 21 1997 09:28 | 9 |
| What's the deal with Carlisle? Is it a big deal? Everyone talks about
it like it's come big deal mecca for stuff. So much so, that I am
considering travelling there to do some bizness.
What's the deal on this place? Is it worth it? What is your
experience, good/bad and suggestions about what to do, who to
contact, when it happens....

59.73 | Never been, but this is what I'm told. | INTONE::BONAZZOLI | | Tue Apr 22 1997 11:30 | 9 |
| It happenes at least twice a year, spring and fall. It is
huge and geared toward 50's-70's stuff, with the Hershey Pa. meet
being geared toward older cars. In order to really look through
everything there, it would take a couple of days.
Like everywhere else, there are some deals to be found as well as
some rip-offs.
