    Well I don't know how the rest of you are doing... but it seems
    as though the entire town is ill. We have even buried a few that
    got this flu.  It is the strangest stuff I have ever seen.  They
    say it's  a virus, so no anitbiotics work.  The ols' man got it 
    the worst, and he is usually the healthiest.  He was off work
    for over a week. In the emergency room on a SAT. night and back
    to another DR. the next day.  He lost over 20lbs, and he could not
    afford to lose even 10lbs. Took him down hard.  Attacked his throat
    and sinus the worst. The Dr gave him vicadine for pain. Great weather
    the past couple of weekends and no riding.  The other half is
    on the road to recovery, and I guess we need to consider ourselves
    lucky, he did survive with no lasting damage.  The kid and I got
    a touch of it, but it keeps coming back.  You feel great for a
    couple of days, then it's back with full force. I don't know anyone
    in this valley that has not had it.  Seems strange.
    
    Next weekend hopefully, we will all be well, and get some riding in.
    The temps has been high 70s' in the afternoon.

    Yeah, I was down with it for better than a week.  For three or
    four days all I wanted to do was be in the most horizontal
    position possible.  The first day after the worst of it, when
    I could actually begin to take an interest in the world again,
    I looked in the mirror and honest-to-god it looked like I was
    dead.  It's a mean one this year.  Glad to hear your man's 
    up and around again.

    Well I am sorry to hear that others have had it. But it does
    make me feel better that they aren't doing things out here that
    they should not be doing. (ie govt) 
    
    As for the voice... yeah I did not know the ol man when he was
    going through puberity... but I now know how his voice crack
    squeked ect.... At times I just had to laugh, I blamed it on
    exhaustion, it's not "nice" to laugh at someone that is sick. 
    Good thing I never claimed to be "nice".
    
    Looks like it's going to be a great weekend. I am ready to ride.
    Cabin fever had set in... now it's time to play!!
    
    The office is moving.  DEC has been in this building for 20+yrs
    Since downsizing, leavings...ect. alot has been left behind.  There
    are only 4 of us left in the office.  We get to go through all those
    years of "keeping for a rainy day".  The servicecenter is gone
    but the stuff remains, the library that has rp07 ect, the manager
    offices that aren't here anymore.  It's sad, but yet those of us
    left are excited about getting out.  A new beginning sorta, starting
    over.  A REAL office.  This building started out as a green metal
    shed.  It had stucco added, and an addition over the years.  When
    the wind blows the internal roll ups move back and forth.

    My SO also has gotten the "bug".  So far, she's missed two weeks of
    work full time, and been half days until this week.  Going to take a
    while for her to recover.  This bug is a real bear, as she's never
    sick.  Normally, I'm the one who gets stuff like this.  Guess I got the
    earlier, less intrusive version this past fall.
    
    As for govt involvement, color me skeptical as I wouldn't put anything
    past them (based on history).  That's not to say I'm not patriotic,
    it's the govt I don't trust....

    	Keep an eye on her, the stuff comes back, although not as bad
    in some, others get worse, in about 3-4 weeks of being "healthy"
    again. And in some folks I have heard they still don't feel a 100%
    until a couple of months have gone by.  My ol' man, still doesn't
    have the stammina (sp), he used to have. things such as changing the 
    oil in the truck can wear him out for a couple of hrs.  He is
    asleep by 9pm and that is after a nap.  This is happening to the
    entire community.  Otherwise I would think he had something 
    "other" than a virus.
    
    Oh and Whiskey Flats is occuring here this weekend. I LUV IT!!!

    Yeah, I came home Tues. only a tuft of hair poking out from under a 
    down comforter... wifey was down for the count.
    
    I stayed away, kept my hands washed etc. and caught it anyway.  
    
    I VERY RARELY catch colds...but if I had to rate it...this one sucks.
    
    Anyway, but I'm out & about and only had a fever for about 2 hrs. last 
    nite. Wifey had one for an entire DAY... I'd REALLY be bummin'.

    Thanks, SIS.  Yeah, I'm watching her, and she's being real careful. 
    
    I got something a few years ago that took me a year to recover from,
    and even at that I haven't been the same.  The docs still haven't
    figured out what it was.  One of them half jokingly said, "Well, it
    didn't kill you, so don't sweat it."  Real comforting.  I changed docs.

    Yesterday afternoon on the way home I heard on the radio that
    Polaris, largest manufacturer of snowmobiles in the USA, is 
    going to start making motorcycles.  They've presumably got the
    bankroll, marketing, and technical know-how to do it, so it
    looks as though Harley will have another made-in-USA competitor
    pretty soon although they'll probably aim for a different market
    segment.
    Does anybody have more detail?
    

    
    I have seen Polaris mentioned on Compuserve. I think the reference was
    in respect to smaller dirt type bikes. But, alas, no detail and it was
    a rumor. Also rumored from the Cinci has HD making a 1000cc V-Twin liquid
    cooled non-VR motored sports bike (Buell). There are several mags
    trying to get confirmation of this. I keep an eye out and report
    anything I happen to run across.

    	I read an article last year that mention Polaris making 4 stroke
    engines for snowmobiles. Then they went on about developing the 
    motors for a new line of motorcycles. 
    
    	Then I talked to a salesman for Poloris snowmobiles and he said
    they were testing dirt bikes in California. He lead me to beleave that
    they should be introduced in 98. This was last winter and over the
    summer I read an article in Motorcyclist that indicated that Polaris 
    was going to build street bikes aimed at high performance.

The traveling photo album is still at the old location, I havn't moved it yet.

you should go to the old location. Once I get some more time, I'll move it to 
bngpc.cxo.dec.com, but that will take a lot of work and time is precious right now.

    IHIW people at MSO2 are *still* parking their cars in the 
    designated "Motorcycle Only" parking area, and all security
    and facilities mgmt. have to say about it is "but it's not\
    summer yet"

    Then I guess that means you can have front door parking!  :)
    
    I don't know how the motorcycle parking is set up in MSO,
    but here in MRO, there's a motorcycle parking area that
    is away from the other parking spots.  I've noticed one
    or two cars parking there during the winter.  From what
    I could tell, they were using it as handicap parking.
    About two weeks ago they designated two parking spots
    for handicap parking out with the rest of the cars.
    Guess what, the cars are still in the motorcyle parking.
    Needless to say, my bike is parked out next to two cars
    right now.  
    I went to get my sticker about an hour ago.  When I left,
    there was one car parked near my bike.  When I came back,
    another car parked next to the other car.  urrrrggg...  
    Fortunately, I still had room.  Otherwise, it would have
    been time for creative parking.  :)
    
    As for "it's not summer yet",,, no it's not, but it is "SPRING",
    which means warmer weather and bikes...   :)

    
    Here at AKO it is amazing how we have so many good customers we have
    filling our customer parking. These same customers keep coming back day 
    after day. Matter of fact, they did it all winter long, especially when
    the snow was flying.

    PS - I hope they don't overflow into the motorcycle parking as the huge
    snow pile melts.

    Is that AKO1 or 2?   I've been going to AKO1 for meetings
    lately, but I didn't notice any M-Parking????

    M/C parking in AK01 is at the end of the customer lot.  When you take
    the left to go to the main lobby, go into that lot, and m/c is down the
    end on the left!

    As Chet mentioned, the M/C parking is at the end of the Customer
    parking. The snow pile there is melting. :-)

    You ever see an "AH SH_T!!".  I am on my way to work, and see a 
    wreck. I look on the other side of the highway and see a rider
    down. NOONE is there with him. NOONe is helping him, the cops are
    there. The meat wagon wasn't there yet. The guy made the front
    page. His leg was " amputated on impact " I had never heard it put
    that way.  Poor guy, 25yrs old, and an 85 did the left turn with
    no place to go. He was new to our area, and none of the other riders
    knew him yet. He was on a croch-rocket. The speed of the bike was
    60mph, so they guess.

    	This past weekend we did some yard work; raking the lawn, trimming
    branches, fertilizer etc.  It was a nice 60 deg day with rain forcast
    for the afternoon.  Sunday started out cool, damp and windy.  By
    11:00am the front passed thru and it was a gorgeous, 65F, bright sunny
    day.   Of course we just HAD to go for a ride.  150 miles and 4 hours 
    later we were all smiles when we pulled back into the driveway.   The
    6PM weather report on the evening news burst our bubble.  "Expect a
    Major northeaster starting Monday AM and continuing thru Tuesday PM"  
    WTF over!.  My bikes hasn't even cooled off yet from the ride, the sky has 
    some very high thin clouds, it's 50FD outside and your telling me we're 
    going to get 10 to 20 INCHES of snow starting tommorrow?  What did we
    do to deserves this?  I never should have done the yard work on
    Saturday... Yeah, that's got to be it.  I'll never do yard work again.
    
        There's an old saying here in New England that's appropo for times

    Great weather Friday and Sat. and Sunday wasn't too bad. The
    wind kicked up. The shoulder told me there was a weather change
    happening. (went for a ride all 3 days.) Today, cloudy, windy
    and cold. Yesterday was 80, today I doubt we get that high.
    
    No forecast of snow in the SoCal. deserts.

    felt great, but never got out of third gear.

    	Got cut off at an intersection on the way to work this morning by a
    beat up silver land ark of a station wagon. Luckily I was in my car
    rather than bike (Suzuki), as I would have suspected he did it on
    purpose.
    
    	He had bumper stickers on the back that said "Friends don't let 
    friends ride rice burners", and "Jap bikes exist to keep assholes off
    Harley's". Kind'a made me wished I'd of order that heat seeking missle
    option for the car ;-)
