| Big news for Mclaren was announced today when they
announced a new five year partnership with British
Aerospace,
"The point of this new venture was for a Technical
take off", the F1 team have agreed it to "share their
technical expertise, particularly for design development
and would work together on numerous programmes"

| McLaren - British Aerospace
Is this a possible alternative to McLaren - Mercedes ?
We've heard many rumours about Mercedes going their own way, without
McLaren, one day. McLaren are obviously very close to BMW and BMW will
eventually return to F1 ...

| A heard a story a couple of years back about a piece of high-tech stuff
that BA had developed for McLaren. McLaren said they'd do a full
evaluation and get back to them in a couple of weeks. This blew the
socks of BA who would expect several months normally. After they
checked up that McLaren weren't BSing them, they decided they had
something to learn from them. They then started to talk about McLaren
offering them consultancy on high tech development processes, so this
may be connected with that.

I chatted with a friend in the pub about this last night, there's a lot
more to this than just a tie up between BA and Mclaren. There is also a
deal in place between Mercedes and BA to develop engines/turbines/whateva
using ceramic technology. In the next few years could Mclaren be the first
F1 team to run a ceramic engine ?

| All sorts of exotic components are currently banned of F1 engines by
the FIA: includes ceramics and oval cylinders. FIA regularly checks F1
engines.

| After 50 races without a win, Mclaren are back ! They showed power,
reliability
and attention to detail in Melbourne, for what should be the first of many
wins and podium finished for both cars in 97.
