| Old note here, but I have a question....
If the third brake light became mandatory on (?) 1986, howizzit that
Chrysler managed to keep them off their Caravan/Voyager models until
(guess?) 1991? Just curious....
Eric-who-now-has-a-1990-Grand-Caravan-and-wants-to-put-a-third-brake-light-
in-it....

| It might be because of what the government classifies as "trucks" and what
they classify as "cars". Trucks were not required to have them. I seem
to remember they changed the classification to include minivans as cars
around 1991.

The 3rd brake light was optional in '86 and mandatory in '87 for
passenger cars.
Apparently a minivan wasn't considered a passenger car at that
time, like Jim said.

| [Circa 90-91 ] Some of the vans that were
marketed in the US and Canada had the wiring harness installed for
canadian operation. The owners manual showed it under the options
section based on regional equipment.
A full wiring diagram may show some of the wire is all ready in place.
