187.15 | Test drive a BX | VOGON::DAWSON | Turn ignition on - Turn brain off! | Fri Jun 01 1990 08:45 | 9 |
| Can't find the "right" note to put this in - in a hurry - but I have
received an offer to test-drive a Citroen BX before end June plus same
for a "friend". You get a free car wash set for your troubles and the
chance to win a 16TZS in a draw for participating.
If you want to have a go, call (830.3670) or mail me - first come first
served.

187.16 | Toyotas anyone? | CRATE::SAXBY | Time to say something contentious! | Thu Sep 13 1990 10:41 | 8 |
| Not Citroen, but we have a Ride & Drive Toyota day at DEC Park
today.
There's a new MR2 and a Supra amongst the more ordinary machinery in
the car park. There's also what looked like a Landcruiser, but whether
that's on offer I don't know.

| I think the Landcruiser is their "office" for the day...

Yes, they have the MR2 2L GT, I've just been out for a run with Bill
Betts, I drove out, he drove back. Is drive the right word, Bill?
Anyhow, for what it's worth, I don't like it as much as the old MR2.
I guess I like the shape better and the extra power but everything
else is just less, somehow. I'd go for the MX5 instead, even though
it has a lot less poke...

I'd say drive was a pretty good description... liked the extra power,
and the new shape is slick. Wasn't so keen on the steering, which is
less precise being lower geared - turn in is still instant though.
The chassis is still good, but the extra weight and size is
noticeable on the road. ABS is noticeable by its lamentable absence.
The interior wasn't as nice as I'd hoped, either.
All in all, still a great car but not as overtly sporting as the last
model. That said, its easy to drive, refined, and quicker than any
hot hatch I've 'driven' recently.
Bill.
