YEAR      : 1983  Y registered

COLOUR    : Black, with grey cloth interior

MILEAGE   : 65,000. Genuine with original Dealer service book

EXTRAS    : Alloy wheels, headlamp wash/wipe, electric front windows
	    and mirrors. Rear seat belts and headrests on both front
	    and rear seats. Electronic ignition. Expensive Kenwood 
	    stereo with Pioneer door mounted speakers. 

# OWNERS  : 3 owners but this includes the dealer who imported the car
	    when new, therefore only 2 'real' owners. The log book
	    shows this.

WORK DONE : Exhaust, rear tyres, new PLASTIC splash guards behind front
	    wheels. Engine oil and filter change 300 miles ago. Engine
	    oil and filter changed every 3000 miles as matter of course.
	    Coolant and anti freeze changed same time as recent oil
	    change. Front disc pads and new brake fluid.

NEEDS	  : Rear caliper adjustment (Discs brakes all round). Possible
	    new hand brake cable but this depends on handbrake performance
	    after work has been done. A new hand brake cable has been
	    purchased just in case.

MOT 	  : MAY 93

TAX	  : OCT 92

CONDITION : This car has not been 'had' by the Italian rust bug therefore
	    all interior wheels arches and the cars underside are spotless
	    and well protected. The cars exterior is exceptionally clean
	    but there are five extremely MINOR surface rust spots needing
	    attention. No accident damage and has original paintwork which
	    still gleams after a wash and blow dry.

PRICE     : An Alfa specialist has said that should the required odds and
	    sods be completed the car could fetch up to �3000. There were
	    only 8000 Guiliettas sold in this country, of which there are
 	    only just over 2500 still registered with DVLA as of DEC 91.
	    Therefore the pre 84 models are collectable and their price is
	    on the increase.

    I have collected this years editions of Autocar and Motor
    which started on 1st January 1992.
    
    I have each weekly edition up to and including last weeks
    25th November edition. This collection also includes the 
    Road test year book for 1992.
    
    In total the collection cost �57.50. If anyone is interested
    in taking the whole lot then I'd like to see a small return
    on the money spent. I was thinking of first person at my desk
    can have them but was advised to accept a financial token for
    the money so far spent.
    
    So the first person round my desk with �20 can take the lot. I'll
    also throw in a few other mags such as Top Car (December 92), 
    Popular Classics (June 92), Daily Mail Motor review (Glossy 1992

    	I used them each time I went to France in my BX (I know that they
    are no longer required by French Law now) and had a spare (three
    bulbs), but my Xantia has separate main and dip lamps, so I can't use

    	They cost about �6.00 each over there, so I reckon on asking �3.00
    each, since they are virtually brand new - very little usage.
    
    	There use in France is merely a courtesy now, but they do have a
    pose value over here I suppose - "would go well with the i on the back
    of your car, sir."  8^)))

	I have a pair of Headlamp Protectors for a Citro�n BX.  They won't fit
on my Xantia, so I need to raise some cash - hence they are for sale;

	They cost new �39.95 and they were replaced when I bent the front of my
BX last May, they came off it when the BX went back in November, so they are

    Never having had to go down that route for a while probably dulls one
    brain,  but how can you you have 13 months MOT ?  I thought it ran for

No, they don't make one for the Isetta, yet....

800 means 800 CFM - Cubic Feet per Minute - lots of air to be pulled through a
carb.  Enough to suck pigeons off the sidewalk....

    1984'ish Vauxhaul Cavalier 1600L, 'A' reg.
    
    Sort of Red, although I dont think the colour at the rear is the same
    as that at the front (or the middle come to that). I've had the car for
    approx a year and done 12000 miles in it without any trouble. It used
    to require filling up with oil every time you filled up with petrol but
    since I lost the cap to the water bottle it hasn't required filling up
    with oil for a few months now, it does however require 3 litres of
    water before any journey, well, not really short ones but journeys over
    40 miles. I drive 40 miles each way every day in this car @ ~80 Mph
    without problems. I'm selling it cos I have to park on hills (problem
    with the battery not charging properly) and whilst its not a problem,
    I live at the top of a hill, its getting to be a bit of a drag. It
    really needs 4 new tyres and there's a funny knocking noise when I turn
    the steering wheel under power (track rod ends according to someone in
    the 'know'). The drivers side window winder is fully intact and
    operational but the other 3 arn't. its a 5 door hatchback and comes
    complete with 4 x 2 litre carrefour milk bottles to keep water in.
    Its in need of a wash and a loving home, I'll only sell it to someone
    who will take care of it.

It certainly  does  have  a  clutch.   It  just  doesn't have a clutch pedal
because it is AUTOMATIC!

As well  as  having automatic gear boxes, automatic cars also have automatic
clutches (at least this one does).

The Volvo automatic differs from the usual in two ways:

First it   does   not   have  distinct  gears  it  has  Continuous  Variable
Transmission  (CVT) which uses variable diameter pulleys to achieve a smooth
increase  in gear ratio and virtually constant engine speed (it is this part
that is in need of some attention).

Secondly the  clutch  disengages  when stationary.  It only engages when you
press the accelerator (it feels like the centrifugal clutches used in mopeds
but  I believe it is actually just like a normal clutch with the engine revs
providing  the  pressure  to  the  plates).  This means that hill starts are
similar  to manual cars (most automatics wont roll back on a hill - this one
will).   It  also  doesn't  creep  forward when in gear unless you press the
accelerator.

    Peugeot 405 GLDT Estate (RHD) for sale
    
    Nov. 1992 K reg, 1900cc version; Ave 40mpg easily obtainable (if I can
    do it, anyone can!); 0-60 in 11.5 seconds, will easily and comfortably
    do 100mph+. Cruises at 80-odd in a completely unstressed manner.
    
    Electric front windows, electric sunroof, load cover, dog guard (useful
    for safely loading the back shelf); 60/40 split rear seats (backs and
    seats); 4 nearly new tyres (NCT2s), spare in VGC but used; Head lamp
    covers; interior mats.
    
    Light metallic blue, one missing wheel-trin, and only mark is small
    scratch on tail-gate. Radio cassette factory-fitted, with satellite
    control on steering-wheel (non-RDS).
    
    Full Peugeot service history, (all bills available) mostly done at

    Quite high mileage for age (currently 73K), but the majority has been

    someone in here buys it, I'll pay the tax, import it, and pay the road
    fund duty before the sale.
    
    I'm (reluctantly) selling this car to help to pay for my new 806 which
    is due for delivery in March. The dealer has offered me �5750 for it (as
    is; he imports, I repay him the tax), but of course, I'd prefer more
    (the 806 is costing me �18K). I'm open to offers in excess of �5750...

    Opel Manta GT 1.8S
    
    I am looking to sell my Manta from which I have had nearly three years
    of trouble free motoring (bit of a waste of money being in the AA!!).
    The car is a B reg and has done well under the average mileage for
    the year (just coming up to 96K). Taxed until the end of August this
    year and an MOT that lasts into late March 1997. It has just sailed
    through it's MOT with only �50 needing spending on it, and that included
    the test fee!!
    
    There are some areas of rust that can be treated easily enough. The
    reasons I am not taking care of this are (a) I have not got an area
    to do the job, (b) I have a new car (a newer Manta) that is ready to
    take the permit space outside my house, (c) I am a lazy so-and-so, and
    if the work was done by me I would have to up the price!!!, and (d) in
    my opinion, it is better to see *exactly* what you are getting.
    
    Recently had an oil and filter change, new exhaust last year and a new
    battery at the start of this year. The car is white on the outside
    and black on the inside. It has a fitted sunroof as well.
    
    The price for such a lovely car (and it is!) is �650 (ovno) which is a
    little money for a lot of car! These cars are becoming increasingly
    rare, and are achieving "classic" status as fewer models come onto
    the market.
