| Tom,
I obtained all the detail info on '67 Firebirds from Pontiac
Historic services. You can have a copy of that.

| Tom,
I have a book at home that lists all of the Ford musclecars from
early to mid sixties up to early 70 and give the different engine
options and body and interior options they all came with. It even
lists such options as cruise control or a/c and tells which engines
were avaiable with a/c and which ones weren't. If you want a copy of
it let me know and I could meet up with you soemtime and let you have
it for a while. I live right in Nashua so it wouldn't be much of a
drive for either one of us.

| Maybe this is just a slight nit, but I am going to pick it anyway
*87) ... *87) ... *87) ... *87) ... *87) ... *87)...
>>For simplicity, lets call a musclecar any vehicle with an enhanced
>>performance engine, 2 doors, and a performance image..
???????
Is this paragraph one of the above, or all of the above? If you say
all of the above, I can think of several that would be disqualified by
only having 2 doors, but would most definately be considered musclecars
by anyone who saw them.
One I can think of off the top of my head is the Dodge Polaris.

| ............wouldn't that be the Dodge "Polara", rather than "Polaris"?
We've been down this "What is a musclecar?" rathole before, but, just to make
the point, there were a bunch of 4-door 409s and 406s around back in the early
'60s.

dust most of the big motored cars of yesterday?

| They had the Dodge Omni GLH (Goes Like H@#$) that was pretty quick.
I remember seeing one at NE Dragway on a Wednesday night (several
years ago) that took care of 2 IROC Camaros and a 340 `cuda. I
enjoyed seeing the IROCs get dusted, but.....

| I didn't realize that you could get a hemi in a 4-door Chrysler product.
Neat.
On a visit to West Virginia back in the early sixties, I noticed a *bunch*
of RPO 406 and 409 4-door sedans around. Turns out that was the standard family
hot rod configuration for the area. I even saw a couple of police cars in this
configuration. No doubt the cops felt they had to fight fire with fire :-).
Re the Omni GLH:
No flames, but it probably qualifies about as well as a '66 Mustang does as a
musclecar. The limited production GLHS qualifies (from an acceleration
standpoint) better than 4 out of 5 traditional musclecars would.

| FWIW, I don't consider the GLH to be a musclecar, I simply responded to
a reply a few back. That one I saw at Epping was quite impressive.
Equally impressive was the "Big Block Shovette". Another musclecar 8^)

those old Mustangs.8^)

| FWIW MHO etc.
When I hear the word Muscle car it conjures up images of mostly
pre 73 two doors with big sneakers in the rear, a V8 and the ever
popular (at least with me ) tire smoking ability. Mostly pre 73
because there are some psot 73 cars that would fit the bill. An
example would be the late 70s 6.6 liter T/As. Course if we go by
the previous definition I'll add the VW note and start boring
everybody with incessant chatter about what a great musclecar my
GTI is and of course the girls still stare atme and not the car when
drive by (I'll have to stop driving with my head out the sunroof if
thats gonna stop though :-) )

Apparently my intent has been misconstrued. I'm not trying to
redefine the Musclecar, but identify all of the variants on the theme.
If this includes 4 door Hemis, 409's, and 406's then great.
I was hoping others could post lists of other musclecar combinations.
However, I can easily see this list growing into the thousands.
Perhaps it's not a practical question.
