| The answers are YES, YES, YES, and YES. The kit is practically put
together for you and it is all balsa. Can tell you that it flies
beautifully if you know what you are doing. One of our club
instructors has one and loves it.

| After seeing the absolutely beautiful Ryan STA at the NATS scale event,
I think I'm in love. I want to build this plane in the worst way.
I took a look at SIG's scale version of the STA, and it looks like it
would be a nice scale project. Does anyone out there have any experience
with this particular SIG kit?
Tower doesn't have any SIG kits in their 92 Catalog, so I'm also
wondering where I can buy one?

| Sig does mailorder as well as sales through your local hobby shop. Yes, there
was mailorder before Tower 8^)

I think OMNI models (they advertize in RCM), for one, carries SIG
kits as decent prices.
You can also order direct from SIG, but expect to pay about 25% more

Joe,
I just finished one (not yet flown) for a friend of mine. If your
familiar at all with Sig kits there is a lot of cutting, sawing, and
sanding. The prints leave alot to the imagination. This kit was
designed back in the early 70's. The plastic was the hardest to asemble
to make it look real. It is a real nice looking plane. It should be
for all the time put into it.
If you have any direct questions about anything I'll try to answer
the best I can.

| I would bet you could get any of the plastic pieces in real nice
fiberglass from Fiberglass Masters. They are listed in about every
issue of RCM.
I just saw a real STA in a museum in Iowa a couple of weeks ago. It
sure is a beautiful bird.

| Understand that the Ryan you saw at the Nat's was scratch built. Irv
Searle (sp) has build many a ryan in his day and the one for the Nats
was evtered in Precision scale. I saw this plane over the weekend at
the Scale Maters Qualifer in Westfield.
Byron's sells a kit as does another company in the Mid west area.
Can't recall their name.

| The Ryan was Irv's??
Hey Joe, if you want any information about and any help getting started
in Scale, I can introduce you to Irv. He is a member of the SNHRCC and
I know him from when I was a member. He also build a number of
Nieuports. He is a true master.
