    Yippee!!!  Got my confirmation for the September race today.  Sent them
    money for $100 seats... we got $45 seats. 5th row on the front
    straight.  Great view of the pits, lousy view of the back stretch. 
    
    Pretty amazing since I wasn't a July race ticket holder...

Got confs for July AND Sept races. Was on waitlist for both. This is getting
expensive is a nice sort of way ;^)

Lets see so far this season I have confirmations on;

2Adults 3Kids for May Busch Race
4Adults 3Kids for May Truck Race
4Adults 0Kids for July WC Race
4Adults 0Kids for Sept WC Race

Thats about $700 in tix and it ain't even spring yet! Glad my wife doesn't look
at my credit card bills ;^)

I have 5 tickets for the May truck race.
4 $95 tickets for the Sept WC race (I think row 31).

I also am not a July ticket holder. I was surprised that I was able to
get the high rows. We sent in our request immediately after receiving it,
must have hit it just right. Lets see, between myself, -.1, -.2 we are
probably spending at least $2,000 in New Hampshire. Yesterday during my
run/jog I was listening to a Boston radio sports talk show. They were
interviewing Frank Deford (sp?) and talking about the various sports.
NASCAR came up but none of the hosts or Frank could comprehend the
popularity of racing. They still thought you had to be born in the south
to appreciate racing. Maybe they should give NHIS a call and ask them if there
is any interest in racing.

    Deford was the long-time editor of Sports Illustrated, who basically
    suppressed any extensive coverage of the sport throughout his tenure.
    He's the one who made SI, as Dan Jenkins put it, "a slick cookbook for
    the two-yacht family".  (SI once had really good coverage of racing,
    mostly sports car racing and Indy, and even used to anoint a 'Driver
    of the Year".)

    He later started "The National", the short-lived national sports
    newspaper, which had almost zero coverage of racing.

    The daily press hacks don't know a thing about racing, don't care that
    they don't know, and don't care that we care.  They still get thousands
    of calls from the bloodthirsty get-a-lifers calling for the head of
    Parcells/Clements/<insert pariah of the week here>.  Covering NASCAR or
    any other form of racing is seen as a useless diversion from the norm.

    Every damn year it's the same.  You hope that these guys get a clue and
    look at the dollars/ratings/sponsorships, but they never can get beyond
    their bigotry and preconceived notions.

    It scares me to think of how much money I spend on race tickets every
    year.  And my wife goes with me to the NHIS winston cup race... no kids
    though.
    
    Lets see... $95*2 + $45*2 + $50 + $50 = $380 in tickets for NHIS.
    $110 + $50 + 50 = $210 for tickets for races when I go to Indy.
    Plus a trip or two to Lime Rock, a couple of trips to Thompson and 
    Stafford, usually a trip to Riverside, and this year I went to the 
    truck race in Orlando.  And I may end up at one of the Dover WC races
    this year...
    
    And that's just me (plus my wife for the WC races).  Never mind other
    friends and family that go along...
    
    Big bucks, but small change compared to the amount of races that some
    of you guys go to.  8^)

Add my $382 for 4 tickets.  Just closed a deal to trade July for Sept.  Regardless,
I'm paying at least $140 so my two daugters 5 and 7 can see Rusty race.  

I think  my oldest is  going to wavier to Steve Grissom since a)his cartoon car
is very cool and b) they both have the same birthday.  Funny how that happens.
My wife says I'm brain washing them.  Maybe so, but we're having a ball.

Hey Gaff - It sure is easy to get that tickets on your brains  disease.
All it takes is a simple form in the mail and the fear that someday
you may want to actually use them.

Roger - Make sure those visa statements get filed real deep.  Once they
see it, there's no making up story's.
