1140.0. "F40 owner sought!!" by CHEST::EASTMAN (Satisfaction Guaranteed!!) Mon Jul 09 1990 10:39

If anybody knows anyone in Britain that owns an F40, there could
	be cause for celebration!!

I have got the ultimate number plate, unfortunately I haven't
got the car to put it on!!

The number plate is MY F40
					------

As for the price, let's just say it's not going cheap!!

Advertise it in a classic car magazine (for a 5-figure sum)...

Or you could ring Bramley Motor Co and see if they're interested,
they might actually have an F40 at moment.

Try going directly to the UK concessionaires:

they are located near Egham, and called something like " Maranello's "
    (excuse the spelling)

Have a good holiday in Florida on those 5 digits by the sound of it!

Or try the new "Classic" Ferrari dealer by Egham station. I'm told
they have two F40s in stock!!!!

What's this 5 figure business, the asking price is a cool

			 100,000

But I just happen to know the owner will take anything over

	 85,000.

P.S.	The dealers mentioned are a bit too far, but if any of
you go browsing round them, you might casually mention
MY F40 to the salesman. Who knows, we might both make
a few pounds. The only dealer that has been approached so
		far, is Nigel Mansell's dealership!

    Wot i'd do is....
Think of as many Ferrari owning celebs as you can, (ones
that spring to mind are...Eric Clapton, Elton John, Pete Waterman) get
in touch with their respective record companies PR division, & put it
to them. Chances are, that kind of sum can be written off by a good PR
man. Failing that, i live near Marenello in Egham & i know a man who
    knows a man....
Let us know wots happenin', the suspense is killing me !!!
                                                             Alan.

At last ! I've found a friendly F40 owner. This guy, Jean-Franois FERT,
is a swiss businessman who, together with Jean-Denis DELETTRAZ, has just
acquired the Italian FIRST RACING F3000 team.

I was with another 10 MVS Venturi's and about 10 Porsche's at Paul Ricard
last saturday when this F40 appears on the pit lane. Soon a crowd of envious
enthusiasts gathers around the beast. But, unlike most F40 owners this guy
is everything but a poser. He quickly did a series of 10 laps on a cold,
wet track, at speeds none of us could challenge.

In the afternoon, when the track was perfectly dry, tyres warm, we were
lapping pretty fast. In between 2 series of laps in the Venturi I asked if
I could sit in the passenger seat and J-F FERT said "sure, would you like
me to show you the Paul Ricard ?" ... can you imagine ? suddenly my dream
comes true !

The next 5 laps cannot be told. You have to live this. In short : the 478
bhp is no joke, turbo lag does not exist, road holding is superb, brakes
are VERY powerful, ... etc ... Summary: it looks very easy to drive (like
every good car).

300kph at the end of the Mistral straight followed by a very strong and
very short action on the brakes in order to get rid of approx 100kph is
something to be seen. Sliding at 200kph in the fast Signes right hander
is OK. I still need to understand how the F1 guys take the same curve
without braking, at full throttle ... (around 300kph). With the Venturi
I can only manage 180kph (with very little drift).

At the end of this memorable day I was just broken. But very happy ! Next
time I wish someone lets me drive the F40 ...
