released in Japan, e.g. KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE, KILLER QUEEN, SEVEN

Thanks for any help you can give on this.

Hi, I was on the Friends will be friends video (along with a couple
of hundred others), but I'm quite visible, standing at the front,
wearing a white Queen convention T-shirt. I also make a fleeting
appearance on the 2nd video in the Queen Magic years video, when
they are talking about the first Queen convention.
If you want to see a piccie of me, look on the front of the
Friends will be friends single, I'm the one holding the yellow friends
will be friends scarf.
I also own a Brian May sixpence and all of queen's albums on
CD and record. Good eh ?
I've been a Queen fan for 5 years now, not long really, considering
this is their 19 th year together. Anyway see ya around.

Hi Dougie,
It's hard to get those early 45s, because we don't have a
magazine like a "RECORD COLLECTORS", so we have to walk around
some second-hand record shops in Tokyo.
The cost, perhaps 200yen - 3,000yen per each. I mean it depends on
the thoughts of record shops.
But if your friend want to have them indeed, I'm avairable to
exchange them for someting. ( I have some copies for each,
I walked around when I was a student. )
Or Your friend is a big fan, perhaps He/She knows
the QUEEN EXCHANGE MARKET in Holland, it was managed by fans.
I lost the address, I'm sorry. The advertisement was on the
Queen Fan Club Magazine/ Xmas issue and on the RECORD COLLECTOR
MAGAZINE/ JAN Issue.
Brynn, I'm sure you know the address ?

The radio reaction is remarkable, though. At one point Radio 4 were

I hope the other members of the band decide to give up and don't try

Re .21
Of course lots of people get AIDS without living life like Freddie
Mercury, but he made no secret of his lifestyle and it's naive and
dangerous to ignore the fact that it was his lifestyle which led to
his death.
All this talk of 'Freddie would want his fans to learn from his death'
means exactly that. Don't just say 'oh, poor chap', but LEARN from
his death. Be careful, because AIDS isn't cureable, but is (to a great
extent) avoidable.

While I wouldn't disagree with this, it has to be said that, by drawing
attention to the way in which people get AIDS, there is a possibility
that others who might get it could be prevented from getting it. So
there is a positive side to pointing out the disease's causes.
'Nuff said.

It is quite likely, as with many, that Freddy died due to ignorance.
It is more than likely that he contracted HIV before it was known, (to the
public anyway), and therefore didn't know the risks he was taking.
I'm not defending his life style, whatever is was, just that you have to
remember that the virus has been around for MANY years. I do think it's
sad that people are dying through ignorance of the risks. This excuse doesn't
exist now of course, or bl*dy shouldn't!!
Freddie left the majority of his wealth to research apparently. I think the
idea of the re-release is a good one. Pity that Red Hot & Blue didn't get the
publicity it deserved.

| Hello,
this weekend I saw the video of the yet unreleased new single "Those were the
days of our lives" and it seems to me that this is very much a farewell to all
the fans especially when at the end Freddy looks straight into the camera and
says "I love you".
Seeing Freddy I was very shocked about the way he looked. The video must have
been made shortly before his death. It was very visible how ill he was even
though he wore lots of make-up.
But even at this point he didn't look tired and sad, he smiled and looked quite
happy.
Knowing the way he was even at making one of their last videos, the one with
the steam train (I guess it was called "Break through") it was really awful
seeing him that much marked by the disease.

| On the Sunday following Freddies untimely departure from this planet,
the other 3 members of the band and Jim Beach, issued a statement to
the Press.
They referred to the fact that "as soon as we are able" they would
celebrate the life of Freddie in a way that he would have wished.
This seemed to imply a concert in aid of aids - I suppose in a way it
could have implied whatever you like e.g. releasing previously recorded
songs , never before released etc...
Well - what is it folks ? My best guess is a Queen Concert with them
supported by other singer's etc. It has been rumored that Robert Plant,
David Bowie (somewhat doubtful), Elton John and Phil Collins could each
say do 1 or a couple of songs with the band.
I think that, if at all it would be this year - I can't guess the location
as it is limited by my own imagination. It is easy to suggest Hyde Park in
July or Knebworth in August.
I do know that in '88 the group were considering Trafalgar Square, and
when it became apparent they could not tour this was scuppered. So
perhaps this could be the place - September maybe ?
I don't expect the group to carry on but mere mortals like myself don't
know enough about their recording contracts - especially their new U.S.
one signed at the begining of 1990 to speculate on their plans.
So all in all I don't know anything about the Groups intentions - however
as an extremely well run outfit for the last 12 years at least I'm sure
that they will have some carefully laid plans.

No Seriously, Trafalgar Square had been Queen's ultimate dream - they
had wanted to do what no other band's have done. They were in 1986, the
first band to ever to play two successive nights at Wembley Stadium,
and this was an idea to Top that, bearing in mind that some other
performers, MJ ? did quite a few nights at Wembley in succession.
As an aside Queen Wembley Friday, bore witness to the first ever Wembley
Wave from the Crowd.
I am also aware that year's ago - (very early 80's before The Works)
that they also wanted to play on the Centre Court at Wimbledon. The
LTA refused on several occasions !
It is quite possible to hold a concert in Hyde Park and have an
admission charge - Concert's in Leed's, Knebworth etc. are in open
Park's with transportable fencing. ( and quite massive security - it's
becoming ever more difficult to slip inside ?!)
You're probably right - Trafalgar Square maybe just a little unlikely,
but this could be something really big or maybe it won't happen at all.
Paul.

I was very surprised at how good the guest singers were - I'm no Lisa
Stansfield fan, but she was among the best of the night. As for Robert
Plant, I was looking forward to his slot, but in the event I could
hardly hear him - and the bits that came through weren't particularly
good.
Someone earlier said that #25 for a ticket was a rip off. I disagree
entirely - it was well worth every penny (and travelling down from
Warrington and back on the day). Firstly the event was in aid of
charity (and awareness). Secondly the concert was quite simply superb
(though I wouldn't have liked to insure the final line up - must have

Seemed very metal-oriented. Thought Def Leppard were rubbish - how can so
many people buy their albums? Enjoyed Guns'n'Roses; they seem less fake
somehow. Got a bit sick of all the covers of Queen songs (am I allowed to
say that?) and the surviving members of Queen looked so middle-aged, but then,
so did many of the performers. Surprisingly few black artists. Liked Annie
Lennox's getup. Taken aback when Bowie came out with the Lord's Prayer but
well, why not. I kept trying to guess which Queen song they were going to
finish on. When they started Bohemian Thingy, I thought that would be the one
but it wasn't. Then I thought it would be We Will Rock You. Turned out to
be (of course) We Are The Champions, a very self-congratulatory note to end
on. Some of the Queen lyrics seemed to take on new meaning with knowledge of
Freddie's lifestyle and eventual death. Particularly the song that Brian May
sang, Too Much Love Will Kill You.
Very enjoyable on the whole.

I thought the concert was really good. Terrific atmosphere and great
music. Extreme were good, the singer excellent, in fact all the
induvidual groups were very good. The finale with loads of guest
singers was superb, and the crowd sang their hearts out.
The worst part of the day for me was the total lack of organization
on behalf of Wembley. We arrived two hours before the gates opened,
and moved about twenty foot in four hours. As the concert started
the police advised us to use different entrance gates, but we still
missed the first 15 minutes of the concert and all the seats had gone.
To be fair I think it was only my turnstile (Gate C) that was so badly
affected. Anybody else ever have that problem at Wembly??

We arrived just after 3 (the gates opened at 4). We managed to actually
get in the ground at about 4:20. We were supposed to get in through
turnstile D, but the police told us to go through turnstile F. It
looked like both D and E were not opened as we were going through.
Perhaps they had problems on those turnstiles...?
As for missing the first 15 mnutes - as it was Metallica, that was
probably a blessing.
Also, I hav now seen the concert on video. I think that didn't come
through on the TV in the same way. The atmosphere was simply
incredible.
Still - that's why I got the tickets rather than sat at home...

my wife and a friend of her are two QUEEN's and particulary F.
Mercury's fans.
They would really appreciate to know how to get one copy of the
newspaper that published the last interview to Freddie, probably The
Daily Telegraph (16-november-1991).
Fhurthermore, they would like to know more info about the Queen's
International fan club: is it possible tu have it's fax number ?
Do you know how to be a member of this club ?
Do you know if a biography has already been issued ?
Thank you for your most welcomed help.

| RE: Tribute concert to Freddie.( Sorry, late input. Because I've just
come back from London.)
It was really good concert. Especially the audience was great.
It was the first time to go to the concert at the Wembley studium for
me, so maybe any audience at the Wembley for any bands are really good.
Even when they played videos on screens, audience sang songs together.
A looklike Freddie waved his armes as like a conductor at some songs.
It was terrific atmosphere.
RE: TOO MUCH LOVE KILLS YOU
I heard that INNUENDO US version include "TOO MUCH LOVE KILLS YOU".
Is that true ? Please let me know.

| Hi Etsi! I'm glad you enjoyed it (wish I was there with you). It
seems like Freddie fans loved it despite any flaws -- I watched it
on TV and really thought it was a great day -- but general music
lovers were a bit disappointed. Oh, well. This was the perfect
way to grieve, and then get on with life.

| Sorry, I had assumed "the also rans" was a non american term,
and had figured there might be some Cross fans here. Found out
that it wasn't, and there aren't, so I looked for an answer
somewhere else.

...so what's the link between Queen and The Cross then ?
Graham
BTW, in the UK at least 'also rans' are those who take part (in a race
or something) but don't really make the grade... the last half dozen
horses in a steeplechase or something like that...
Is this the sort of answer you wanted ?
