Hmmmm.... all pretty heavy cars.... If you like "different"
how about an early to mid 60s Falcon. Better yet a Falcon/Ranchero if
you could find one.

| | There's always the Dave Mellor approach. He (or was it a friend of
his?) built a "stealth wagon" using lots of go-fast Mustang parts
tucked under a rather sedate looking Granada or Fairmont wagon body.
    Talk about a sleeper! :-)

| | Thanks for all the replies so far. I really like the Torino idea! Those
are front WD, correct? (Poor man's Eldorado.) That could work wonders for
me out here in Colorado. We're still getting snow, here in June... I also
like the Falcon idea - haven't seen one in a while. I'll have to check out
the local want-rags. The only problem I can see there is that they're so
old/rare that the only ones you *can* find are already built up (and hence,
   expensive). We'll see.
As for Brian, yes, he was TFSO'd, though he pretty much wanted it. I've
lost touch with him, unfortunately. He and I were pretty good friends,
doing both motorcycle events and local parties whenever possible. He even
showed up for my (surprise! - thanks wife...) 30th b-day party - 5 years
ago... I was in Manchester, NH. at the time. His (my) truck is still
running strong, it's just that I need either a recreational vehicle or a
muscle car, not both rolled into one. (It's tough trying to haul a bike
trailer and a camper at 10K' altitude with a auto tranny with a shift kit..)
Re: Tom B. - Don't I know you? Your name is awful familiar. I was in
MKO several years ago, on RSTS, WPS, and a few other things.

| | Harry,

Speaking of people building stealth vehicles. Tom Fisher just picked
up an '81 Malibu wagon with a factory 3 speed. He's in the process of
having a 400 smallblock built for it and is going to swap in a 4speed
in place of the 3. He's already upgraded the suspension with no
springs, sway bars, shorter end links, etc. It'll be running 15x8 Rally
wheels with early disc brake ('67 Camaro style) center caps, trim ring
    and Yokahama 378 tires.

Nope, RWD. You couldn't put that engine in a front wheel drive, anyways.
You want a "recreational" vehicle? Build a street rod. Drop a bone stock
302 into the ghost and make it a work truck then use the 302 in a fat fendered
street rod that you can go out and enjoy. Dana can get you started. He's
already got some experience with a fat fendered Chrysler stocker.

Ah, yes, I seem to remember tripping over you once or twice :-) :-) :-)

| | Hi Sam...yup I was a Mgr in the RSTS group...many moons ago! That was
in the early '80's. I just moved back into MKO about 4 poles away from
    my RSTS office.

I also did some work out your way on the removable disks program a few
    years back...

...well enough of that...let's figure out what you should build!!!

"Ghost", eh? Melissa named it "Glinda, the Good Truck" when we bought it.
Okay everybody, break out your "Wonderful Wizard of Oz" books and follow
along... :-) Seriously though, thanks for the suggestion, and I'll look
into it. I'm not looking at doing a multi-thousand dollar project, though.
re: Tom - I thought that the name sounded familiar. I'm having a hard time
placing your face, though. In any case, hello from me and Melissa (ne:
