102.1 | My 2 cents. | MYCUDA::COE | 440 Rotates the Earth | Sat Feb 27 1993 15:30 | 7 |
| The 1970 Hemicuda and Hemi Challenger or the even rarer `71 Hemicuda
have to be near top this list. Total production numbers for both models,
both years have to be somewhere around 30. I've heard numbers like 13
Challengers and 11 `cudas were made in 1970 and 7 `cudas in 1971. The 440
6 packs are pretty rare too.

102.3 | '69 Shelby Convertible | COMPLX::C_WILLIAMS | Hammer | Tue Mar 02 1993 10:24 | 9 |

The only Mustang I've ever liked was the '69 Shelby Convertible.
Perhaps someone can tell us how many were made, options, etc.
There used to be an original baby blue with white interior one
out here in Pueblo. The owner would take it to car shows, set
up a rope about 15 feet away and around it, pull out his folding
chair, park his butt, and not leave it's sight all day long!

102.4 | My 1.5 Cents | MKOTS4::FLEURY_W | | Tue Mar 02 1993 16:46 | 7 |
| Well I figured I would add my two cents worth in here.
How about one of my dream cars 'a Shelby GT500 KR convertible.'
I don't have exact figures on production right here In front of me but
I know they were very low and even if they weren't they are very nice
cars anyway.

102.5 | Rare rags | IAMOK::FISHER | | Wed Mar 03 1993 15:30 | 22 |
|
Well, let's see.....
In 1966 Caroll Shelby built 6 GT-350 ragtops (in the early 80's built
12 more from a stash of original parts and donor Mustang ragtops)
There are currently 15 LS-6 Chevelle ragtops known to exist, with
speculated production of less than 50
1969-70 Roadrunner Hemi ragtops are also rare with production in the
low double digits
1969-70 428CJ Cougar ragtops are very scarce with production numbers
estimated in the low 100's
Of course the rarest ragtop of all should be the prototype 1968 Z-28
of which one was built, and recently auctioned for around $180k
Yikes!

I think there was around 1000 69&70 Gt500 and GT350 Shelbys produced.
Any Hemi Conv is very very rare. I think the 66 Belevidere II was
highest production with like 20 something.

102.7 | to top it off | BIGQ::HAWKE | | Tue May 03 1994 11:04 | 5 |
| Where is a good place to have a top replaced ? Can one replace
a top themselves? What does it entail ? If you had someone else
replace it how much does it cost? The car is a 71 Cutlass S.

bridge to Hudson that does very good work.

102.9 | Vinyl tops? | SUBSYS::WOJDAK | | Tue May 03 1994 13:25 | 8 |
| I know this isn't a convertible question, but what is the going
rate to have a vinyl top replaced.In this case it is a "landau" type
of vinyl top (only covers about 1/3 of the roof).I plan on removing the
old one myself and having the car painted before replacing it.Any
recommendations in the Gardner,Ma. area?

| I had my 66 T-bird done last year in Lowell at Auto & Home upholstering
I supplied the top. They also had to make a new tack strip for the
bottom rear window area due to it being totally rotted out. They did a
great job. I have since had them replace the covers on my 70 GTX.
again, very satisfied. The top ran either $350 or $375. I forget.
Either way it was $200+ cheaper than other shops in Leominster. To
be fair the one shop in Leominster that quoted me a high price did
include making all adjustments to the top. If you need this done and
are not able to handle it yourself then your gonna pay more $$$$. If
not then call Agnel or John at (508)454-0480

Oh.....Now you tell me....Ok. Now your at about $1701 in Mint condition
...and if ya have Women Wanted bumper stickers on the car it's now
worth $1705.
:')
Now, the rarest car has to be a Rambler Convetable with deluxe
interior Straw filled Seats, Power Steering, Power Brakes, V-8,
and holes in the floor to allow for water drainage !

102.14 | Superbird or Road Runner | CADSYS::KELLEY | So to speak | Mon Jun 03 1996 15:01 | 9 |
| A friend told me one time that
the Plymouth (?) Superbird (Road Runner?) convertible
was very rare. Supposedly only 2 made. I think
this friend said Reggie Jackson owned one.
I was reminded of it when I saw someone driving
a hardtop Superbird in Shrewsbury the other day.

There is some sort of kit available to make a convertible Coronet into
a Superbird. One of my friends built one for someone.

| There was a convertible based on the Superbird, but it
was one of those "future" cars that they roll out for the auto
shows and never made it to production.

I've seen a couple at some of the MoPar shows. Actually they
were the `69 Daytona version. I know a guy in Fitchburg who is
going to build a Superbird ragtop outta 70 Satellite. Any wing
convertibles you see didn't come from Mother MoPar.
