29.4 | Ford Part numbers!! | IAMOK::FISHER | | Thu Oct 31 1991 07:54 | 37 |
|
Attention Ford heads (Jim Koehler, A.J. Sanclemente, et al)
I have just picked up on a valuable resource for Ford restorations.
It's the hardcopy equivalent of Ford's parts microfiche for all Ford
passenger vehicles (Bronco included) from 1965-1972. I also have the
exploded diagram book, showing all major sub-assemblies. The parts
book covers everything, including;
1. A complete Shelby Mustang (GT-350/GT-500) parts listing from 65-70
2. A listing of all Ford off-highway and over the counter "Muscle parts"
3. Identification tables for things such as Differentials, transmissions,
and suspension pieces.
4. Lots of valuable restoration information, including color and location
of component paint daubs and identification stripes. For example,
if you want a listing of all Hi-po intake manifold casting and part
numbers for the 351c, I can give it to you. Might be nice the next
time you visit a large swap meet or junkyard.
I've found that a lot of parts are still available through Ford for
popular makes from the sixties. Problem is, unless you have a part
number, most counter guys can't be bothered to look through the
microfiche (that is, providing they have the fiche for older cars)
If you tell me what you need, I can probably get you a part number
which you can bring to the parts counter - if it doesn't appear in the
current parts listing, don't despair. Ford is frequently known to
supercede old part numbers with new ones. Have the parts man look in
the O.S.I. book (a listing of all obsolete, superceded part numbers and
their current status) He'll probably give you a lot of grief for it,
but hey, it's worth it!
Hope I can help you guys out.

29.8 | Complete Small-block Exhaust Sys | DABEAN::DUCLOS | RON DUCLOS | Fri Jul 17 1992 14:29 | 12 |
| I have a complete dual exhaust setup for a 69 mustang fastback. It
consists of a head pipe, 2 intermediate pipes w/resonators, transverse
muffler, and tailpipes. They are exactly the same as is on my 69 GT350
except that they are of a smaller diameter. I picked up the whole setup
years ago and could not use it. It is all in practically unused cond
with perhap a few hundred miles of use and absolutely no rust or scale.
I believe that it should fit a 302 Mustang. Asking $200 but willing
to talk. Will deliver within a reasonable area.(Central to Southeastern
Mass) Ron Duclos @Freebe::Duclos

29.10 | Unidentified orig. Ford Air cleaner | CXDOCS::HELMREICH | | Mon May 03 1993 13:13 | 17 |
|
For Free - a stock Ford air cleaner that fits 289-equipped cars 1965-6-7? I
bought it thinking it was for a Mustang, but it is not. Hard to describe -
it is shaped like a torque converter, and has a lid only slightly larger than
the air filter element (the lid is much smaller than the body of the air
cleaner). Missing the snorkle, but any Ford snorkle of the era can be modified
to fit.
It's in Ford lt. blue, with the orig. 289 sticker and a couple very small dents.
Easily restorable; really only needs paint. Fits Falcons? Fairlanes? Fits
something with a 289, in any case ;-)
Free, but you pay the shipping if out of state.

Hm. 593-7013
FREE Ford 8" rear diff chuck. 2.80 gears. Stock spline arrangement (28?)
The ring/pinion have wierd wear patterns, and the rear end was noisy - but
the rest of the parts seem good. I'm guessing the backlash was not to spec.
No drain plug on the housing. Appears to have been OEM on a '66 Mustang
289.
It goes to the scrap pile next week.

Wow....I had to check the dates to verify the 3 years. :-)
I own a '69 mustang coupe, 302 4v....has single exhaust at the
moment and was recently checking into prices for a dual exhaust setup
debating whether or not to get duals now or wait until the old system
dies.
at the rate I use the car ( shows only) my old system may not die
for many many years..So, I may change it now and put some cheery bombs
on for the Muffler Rap Contest !
