Last night I dreamed I walked blocks and blocks in the pouring rain,
sans umbrella or mac, to get to a record store where Roy Orbison was
making a personal appearance. He looked smaller in person than on the
television.
When I woke up this morning, I remembered he was dead.

You probably heard your cat snoring in your sleep, and through
free association linked it with Roy's purring in "Pretty Woman",
followed by the line about a "Pretty woman, walking down the
street...", and then in a huge leap of logic, ended up with
Fred Astaire (who was small) "Singing in the Rain"...

| I remember most vividly, a dream I had some 30 years ago as a child,
in which I was standing outdoors with my parents, in a housing
development high on a hill, set against a star-filled sky, as a giant
Jiminey (sp?) Cricket ran behind the houses.
This was long before I had any concept of better living through
chemicals.
I also have a recurring dream of witnessing a plane/helicopter/
airship-of-some-sort crash. This dream has resulted in my being
a white-knuckled flyer, for sure.

| Not all of my dreams are fun and creative Dan Rather horror movies.
There are a few dreams that I'm thoroughly fed up with, and I wish
I'd stop having them. For example:
Oh-my-God, I'm in school, what's my schedule, where's my locker,
where's my books, where's the classroom, when's the homework due,
when's the test, how will I catch up with all the work, and why
am I in my underwear?!
I'm in the back seat of the car, and the car's running and moving,
but there's no driver, and no one else in the car, and I have to
drive the car from the backseat, and I can't take the time to get
into the front seat, just keep trying to drive.
Teeth and/or other body parts seamlessly parting company with the
rest of me. Yeah, yeah, doesn't scare me anymore, just float back
and re-attach yourselves before I get annoyed and leave.
I've gone back in time, and I have to do *everything* exactly the
same, down to the last detail, or else the universe as we know it
will cease to exist. It's tough trying to remember whether or not
I skipped school on some day in December 1968, but we manage and
amazingly enough, to my relief everything's still here in the morning.
Wherever I am, whatever I'm doing, suddenly I'm walking into the
men's room. That's a real common one...

for awhile but my ex used to have it as well. The class room one I
used to have quite frequently. Always spooked my that one did. Felt
really helpless. Couldn't remember my schedule, locker number or
anything. I hate that one.
I dreams where I get shot quite often. It never hurts though. It's
like a game and I have lost. Sometimes I have a gun and others I
don't. Then there's the ones where I am falling......

| By the way... Carlos Casteneda (sp?) had some marvelous dream
imagery and some very interesting exercises in his books; also
P.D. Ouspensky. A common thread was writing down dreams, in
detail, as soon as you wake. I've done this for quite a long
time... the next step is controlling your dreams, getting
away from the stream-of-consciousness driving the pattern.
Ultimately, the goal is to be able to choose what you dream.

Having nightmares seems to run in my family on my mother's side - my
grandmother had 'em, my mother has 'em, my sister and I have 'em. I'm
talking about 3 nights a week waking up the household screaming, not
just various bad dreams. It was pretty much a nightly occurrence in my
house while growing up to either wake up a screamer or be woken up as
the screamer. I don't know how my dad put up with it 8^).
ANYWAY, my in-laws moved to New Mexico, and my MIL sent me a little
item, I believe Navajo, called a dream-catcher. Their legend has it that
if you hang the dream catcher over your bed, it will "catch" all those
bad dreams before they get into your head and thus prevent nightmares.
I'm down to closer to 3 screamers a month now rather than 3 a week. Feel
free to tell me it's all in my head, but I swear the darn thing works.

Having had to take _A LOT_ of pain medication once and then off-and-on
occasionally over the years.
Demerol never affected me but one of the new replacement "artificial"
pain-killers the so-called non-addictive ones, gives me frightful dreams
in large quantities I will actually have halucinations while awake.
by sticking to codeine or demerol I get pain-relief and no side-effects.
(never been bothered with temptation to be addicted either :-})
I've learned to control my actions in regular(non-drug) dreams, started by
trying to control my hands first(as Joe suggested). my only problem is
the other-guys gun is usually more effective than mine :-}
and when the dreams involve snakes (maybe 1 every 6 months) I lose all control
and it's panic-city till I wake up.

I dragged a handful of leaves from the ground, and began stuffing them

the bullet hole and stop the bleeding.
Then I awoke, and found that I had half the bed sheet poked up my butt.

| Must be what I ate... I had an extremely active night of dreaming.
I remember 5 separate dreams from last night... which I think is
close to a record. One was noteworthy:
I was in a building very similar in principal to some of the drawings
of M.C. Echer. There were stairs where you couldn't tell if you
were going up or down and all sorts of other strange distortions
of perspective. It was a round building (like a biosphere), and
at one point I fell from what I thought was a very high place, but
ended up going the opposite direction than what I expected and landed
quite comfortably on what I thought was the ceiling.

When I was in my teens, there was a horrible nightmare that
I would have on a regular basis. The dream was always the
same, except for the background people. Myself and one other
person always remained the same....the place stayed the same
also.
I have not had this dream in 14 years. Last week, I had it
again, and it really scared me. I never fell back to sleep that
night, and didn't sleep well for two days afterward.
It's a very horrible dream that involves a family member that I
used to be fairly close to, but have not seen in several years.
Think it means anything??

I've had some very strange dreams recently.
I dreamed I was being arrested for something someone else had done, and
that when I complained to the officer he said I could call someone to
bail me out. I told him I had no-one 8^(. It was very sad.
Then I dreamed I was trying to brush my teeth in a communal bathroom
using my hairbrush rather than my toothbrush. I realized I was using
the wrong brush but was too embarassed to switch in front of all the
people so I just kept brushing my teeth 8^).
I dreamed I was at an airport with a friend who was waiting for an
airplane when Steve Leech showed up to go on the same plane. He looked
nothing like I expected 8^), was short and stocky with sandy hair and a
huge moustache. (Steve, what DO you look like?)

back in time. It was really complicated as to why I had to do that and I don't
remember the details but I finished what ever I was doing and in the process
the ladder was damaged. I couldn't get back.
Then I felt this wet feeling on my head and I was being sucked up the ladder.
As I got to the top and made it back in the present there was my cat. I woke
up and she was licking my head. That's not that unusual, she does that when she
wants me to get up and feed her, but that was the 1st time that she rescued me
from being stranded in the past.

| I had the strangest dream last night, well it was about 6:00am
I think.
So anyway, I am driving along in my jeep, the one I sold before
I came to Australiam anyway I'm driving though Sydney and all the
streets are like empty and there is nobody about. There is this
baby in the back seat, which happens to be my baby, however I the
baby had no mother, not because the mother had gone after the birth
or anything. the baby just had no mother period. I no I didn't have
the baby but it was my baby. hello, lost ya y/n..... anyway.
So, all of a sudden I'm like in this really tall, funny shaped
building, standing in the reception area, which is really small
with big glass windows. I can see my jeep parked outside, only,
it's not my jeep, don't ask.... Then all of a sudden I was laying
down on the floor with my baby laying on his/hers front on my
chest, and asleep. The I wake up (this is all on the same floor of
the building) and walk out this door and I'm on this window ledge
at least 500 stories up !! So, there I am, I can't remember whether
the baby was with me, and I'm trying to jump onto this moving ledge
part of the building which is sticking out and moving from side to
side about 450 stories bellow.
And then I woke up, GUTTED.

| Last nights dream is trying to tell me something but I'm not sure what.
I had a dream that I was at a really bad magic show. The magicians all had
Tuxes and they opened by turning empty glasses sidewards. Nothing happened.
Then came their big act. They pushed a big glass tank on the stage full of
water but you could clearly see a big shoot behind the glass. They took out
pans and started scooping the water toward themselves as if you were suppose to
think they'd get wet but it was obvious to everyone that the water was going
down the shoot. Then suddenly the water came back up the shoot and into the
tank.
The magicians were very disappointed that no one reacted so they did it all
again only this time we had to stand up. Presumably they thought we couldn't
see well enough. Standing up we could actually see the shoot better so it was
more obvious how they did their trick.
We were about to have to sit through the trick again when the alarm clock
went off saving me from having to watch a 3rd performance.
What does this all mean?

In your job, you shovel water against the tide. In other words in your
subconscious mind, you do the impossible and you know it. So do the
people you work with (this is why you might be just one of the
magicians ... depends on how "team oriented" you are as a person).
Even though you do the impossible day after day, no one applauds.
Translation? No praise, no raises, no trips to the ball game.
So you do the act again. Nobody applauds.
The fact that your alarm clock went off and interrupted this horrible
situation is a blessing. It would go on ad infinitum if you didn't wake

As long as you get the gist of what someone is saying, what difference does

I don't agree with this point of view. There are different types of thought
and people often good at one are not good at others.
For example, there are autistic people who can remember a phone book and
spell every name correctly but they literally do not have the common sense to
come out of the rain.

to someone who spells poorly as dumb. There's little connection between

spell poorly.

You are correct. But it has been said that one never has a second
chance to make a good first impression; and while I have no problems
with erratic spelling in the box, where clever spelling is often
thought de rigeur (witness many of my own notes here), it's a fact that
in the outside world a poor speller is first viewed as someone who
didn't bother to learn to spell and therefore can probably be assumed
not to have bothered to learn much else worthy of consideration. This
kind of prejudgment, although often wrong, is nonetheless common. That
such a person may be learning disabled is generally not apparent on
first encounter, and on second encounter it may be too late.

| Ok, I had another dream last night. Here goes.
I dreamed that I was on vacation out in Oregon where the giant redwoods grow.
I took an elevator up to the top of one of the larger trees where there were a
few small buildings including a gift shop and an observatory.
The decks on the observatory were not in very good shape but I went out and
had a look anyway. I tried to look down the trunk but because the tree got
wider as it went down it was hard to see. I leaned way out to get a better look
but still couldn't see the bottom of the tree so I went back inside the
building.
I walked back out one more time and as I did, a head popped up over the
railing. Someone had climbed up the tree which seemed next to impossible since
the trunk was so wide. I pulled him over the railing and said he should come
inside but he said he had to wait because his friends were coming up. Then 7 or
8 more people came pouring over the railing.
I went across the top of the tree to the gift ship and an older woman talked
me into buying a glass ornament for one thirty. I agreed thinking it was $1.30
but then I found out it was $130 and I was really upset since it obviously
wasn't that valuable.
Since I had already agreed to the purchase I had to come up with the money
but I didn't have enough cash so I pulled out a Visa card that draws money
directly from my checking account. I was worried that my rent check might
bounce but I decided I had no choice and would transfer the money when I got
back home.
That's about the time Leslie Abramson showed up. I can't remember why she was
there but she got into an argument with the older woman in the store. Suddenly
all the guys who had climbed the tree came pouring into the gift shop. They
were being lead by a guide on some sort of tour. They wanted to take my picture
along with the woman who sold me the glass ornament for $130 but we all had to
wait while she argued with Leslie Abramson.
Then I woke up. What does this all mean?

Anyway, I took the kiddies to Disneyworld back in early
December. Well, this dream was my return visit. Except,
I was alone (which doesn't surprise me considering other
events in my life right now). Also, for some reason, I
was doing something music-related as Disney... and had
my _entire_ guitar and bass collection along (28 instruments,
all told). Why? I dunno. I never travel with more than
2 or 3.
But the real silly part was that Disney was completely
different. Everything in the park had a different corporate
sponsor. Dunkin' Donuts had a ride. The bridge in Epcot
was brought to you by Annheiser Bush. One interesting
twist was on the "Tower Of Terror"... in which basically
the entire building went up... at high speed. Kodak was
the sponsor for that one.
I couldn't find my hotel room and kept ending up in some
restaurant lugging all my instruments around... looking
on all this other stuff from the restaurant's window...

Spelling _can_ matter, George. For instance, there are people
to whom I would not feel comfortable giving an important coding
job because I know they can't spell to save their lives. That
lack of attention to detail is indicative of a mindset that is
just not desirable under some circumstances.

I dreamed last night that I was a kid again hanging out on a suburban
neighborhood street. All around were people-sized ice cream cones with
stick legs and stick arms walking down the sidewalks, singing happy
songs and saying "hello" to everyone they passed. They liked walking
with one leg stepping on the sidewalk and the other stepping on the
road.

| I had a dream last night that I actually remembered. It goes something
like this (no intro, this is all I remember)...
I was standing on the porch of some house with my Dad watching
at the funky weather. The rain was flying by right to left in straight
lines (it was windy, though that didn't seem to affect either of us)
nearly horizontal to the ground. All of a sudden, the rain changed
direction. Now it's blowing left to right in the same manner it was
previously.
We both look up at the clouds during this, where we see one huge, dark
cloud mass coming from the left and one from the right. They hit head
on creating the mother of all tornadoes not too far from the house
(FWIW, I had never seen this house before), which we watched form and
begin heading in our direction.
We run down the stairs to take cover (which for some odd reason put us
at ground level...which was where we started, though now we were
inside). We watched the huge tornado head out way through the window,
I was looking for something to hide under, but all I could do was get
down next to the couch and cover my head (I did find some mats to put
over my bare legs- I was in shorts- in hopes of keeping the inevitable
glass off them).
The tornado silently (yes silently) rolled through, taking out half the
house (without making noise) but leaving the room we were in intact.
We get up, look at the damage, and notice that the house is reduced to
the frame, except for the room we were in.
We discussed this briefly (before I woke up), Dad said we were really
lucky. I was amazed that he thought it was only luck and not an act of
God that saved us. Seemed fairly obvious to me.
Very strange. At least it was in black and white...I had a very weird
dream with a strage bit of color a while back, regarding a different
disaster of a much grander scale.

I read under "song lyrics" made me think of it...
Last night, I dreamt I went to see a concert. The band had a
bass player who played an electric standup bass. He was an
awesome player. But he also wore no pants and had a huge
penis; probably 10" long and with the girth of my forearm.
Even considering my own bass-playing ability, not to mention
sizable talent in other areas, I remember feeling very
inadequate.
Oh well.

I was there when my daughter Jennifer was born, by C-section.
I was sitting there looking at the inside of my wife's abdomen

sanded better; cherry or maple. My wife found no irony in

A few years ago my wife was having terrible nightmares that were waking

that dreaming is the thinking process in reverse. Dreaming is the
mind's garbage disposal. Dreams help purge the mind of clutter and
meaningless data absorbed while awake.
Makes some sense I think.

A bit Freudian, but the principle is sound. I think that dreaming is
part of the learning process, where information gets discarded or
learned in accordance with its relative importance to the learner.
The biological basis of memory may be that learning is first done by
creating long-chain molecules as short-term and medium term memory
(cache to ram). These are replaced by neural networks if the
information is very important. (Ram to Rom, if you like.) This is a
continuous process, but during the night and particularly during REM
sleep, we somehow become conscious of random bits of information which
the cortex tries to interpret as incoming data.
Recurring dreams or nightmares may be the result of interference
in the process as a result of high stress - maybe by laying down
an incorrect neural network.

Some of it has happened before but it's getting more and more common. I
am laying in bed and I here noises and I think it's my Dad or my
brother. I keep thinking I'm back home in my parents house. It's not
very nice... The other day I woke up (same as back in March), thinking
I was in bed at home (England) and suddenly realising I was somewhere
else, but didn't know where for about 10 seconds. It's scary !!!
I did have a good dream the other night !! I just wish it would come

that happens to me a lot too, but I've learned to ignore it now. What's
really tedious is just on the verge of waking up I think I can hear the
telephone or doorbell ringing (my imagination does a pretty good imitation
of the sound), but fortunately I've learned to ignore that too.

i had one not that long ago where in my dream, my alarm went off, i
thought i was awake and no matter what i did, i couldn't turn it
off...i unplugged it, i threw it across the room...then i eventually
really woke up. it was strange, cause i almost never sleep thru the
alarm for even a minute...

| I'm not sure if I already posted this.... anyway:
I often dream that my alarm didn't go off on time and I jump out of bed
and then just as I get to the bathroom I turn around and then I wake up
in bed staring at the alarm clock and I've still got half hour in bed.
When this happens the whole process is always the same or very similar.
It's most strange... but then so am I!

Oh boy... this one was a dilly.
First, I'm at a bowling alley. Except, then it's not a bowling
alley, it's a strip club. But then a whole bunch of woman are
watching the strippers and I realize that it's a stripping
lesbian bowling alley. Then I run out of money, so I leave
the club to look for an ATM machine... and then I'm at the
mall. So, it's a stripping lesbian bowling alley in a mall.
I ask some woman if she knows where there's an ATM machine,
and we get into this longwinded discussion, during which I
end up in a wheel chair... with a broken foot. So, the dream
ends up with me being pushed to the ATM machine by a gabby
woman so I can get more money to go back and watch the stripping
lesbians at the bowling alley in the mall.
If this means anything, frankly, I'd rather not know...

Tuesday night I woke up cuz of the dream I had. Seems that I walked
into my parents house, and my mother was sitting at the kitchen table having a
stroke. I picked up the phone, but it was dead. I ran over to the neighbors
house to get one of them to help (one is an emt) and to call for an ambulance.
From inside their house I observed my mother walking around the house like
nothing was wrong.
Wednesday night I woke up cuz the dream I had. My mom had had her
surgery, and was over at my house. Not where I was living now, but where I used
to live in Hudson. She was leaving, in her night gown, with a man who was
abusive. Not my father, but with some other guy. He was in his 20's.
Very weird dreams.....very weird indeed.....now what the hell to they
mean?

I REALLY need to turn the tv off when I go to bed, as my dreams lately
have been really weird. Last night I had one of those dreams. In my dream was
our lovely !Joan Collins, and his wife Karen. Oh yeah, and the cast of Cheers.
DOH! Seems !Joan had a store up in Canada where he sold things of convience. He
also had a store in MA. He would visit both stores at will. Travel did not seem
to be a problem. Seems Karen was jealous of Rebecca, who just happened to be
trying to imitate Karen. Our lovely !Joan had many headaches with this. Sam was
no help either. I seemed to only be in the MA part of the dream. I guess my
travel was harder to do. :-) But this dream is very very weird, and I'm
wondering if Cheers is on anytime after midnight?

| I had a dream the other night, a really odd one (and it should prove
interesting/amusing to see the box 'dream interpreters' interpret it 8^) ).
I was in a white van with someone. We were talking about these nifty
fully automatic rifles. We were on our way to a cavern complex to
exterminate giant spiders (really giant, like 15-20' long spiders that
eat people). The last group to go didn't all make it back. It was
then that I realized I only had three clips of ammo (and that I was one
of the lucky ones who made it back from the first raid). I could go
through those in mere seconds, so I was looking for more ammo.
A gun from a previous battle with the spiders was there, and it was not
in good shape. Seems it was defective, the barrel was cracked in
several places...and just when I was commenting on how great these
weapons were.
I woke up as we were on our way to the caverns. Memories of dark caves
and spiders fresh in my head.
Dreams are weird, but can be rather humorous at times. 8^)

| Sometimes a rifle is just a rifle. But in this case, you're obviously
feeling sexually inadequate and unlike the previous success, you are
feeling vulnerable and unprepared to face the women who will no doubt
destroy your ego.
The dark cave represents going back to your mother's womb which is a
place of safety as you know that at least one woman, your mother,
still loves you and will protect you.

| I keep dreaming of being at work, which I guess isn't too strange.
The weird part is that the dreams are much more interesting and/or
bizarre than what I actually do here, so as a result daytimes tend
to be doubly dull. :-)
In the latest installment, I went to the caf (why, I don't know,
since I don't go there in "real life"), plugged a laptop (which
I don't have) into the table, and discovered that I was late for a
meeting (a variation on the "late for the final exam" dream type).
Then I looked at the people across the table, and instead of sitting
in their chairs, the whole row was sitting on the table, as if there
were something under the table on their side preventing them from
sitting. I walked to one end and ducked underneath to see what was
there... an entire row of people kneeling under the table, praying
fervently. :-) Including some guest clergy who were apparently
running the proceedings.
Then I drove home and told my wife that I should've come home for
lunch instead. :-)

from my limited reading on dreams and meanings of such, your dream
sounds like a classic case of trying to escape life's many problems.
All these problems are "chasing" you every day and it is impossible to
get away from them (your stuck feet).

Peanut Choccy before bed is the ideal dream food. Stimulating
caffeine, carbohydrates to cause a release of dopamine, and a dose
of tyrosine - the same substance that gives Cheese its dream inducing
quality.
Chianti and gorgonzola would be slightly worse, and a lot smellier.

Tryptophan is in foods like bananas, sunflowers seeds, (may be in
peanuts) and milk. It's a precursor to serotonin and slows down
mental functions. Tyrosine is a precursor to dopamine and
adrenaline-like substances involved in long term memory. One theory is
that dreaming may be part of the process of committing learning to
long-term memory. Learning is severly impaired by lack of REM sleep
when dreaming often occurs.

I am walking down a long winding lane, there are tall trees on both
sides, I come around a bend and see a white gate, there are people
trying to get through but someone is in the way. When I get closer I
see Lucky Jack, in a three piece suit and fedora holding them off with
some kind of weapon, when I got closer I could see that the "weapon" is
an electric screwdriver and looking over his shoulder I saw a long
orange extention cord, snaking off down the lane and around the next
bend.

| I had a very strange dream last night. I was lying in bed in my
old room in the house I grew up in. The drawer in the nightstand
next to my bed started shaking and trying to open. I got scared and
tried to hold it shut and started screaming for my mother in
the next room. She didn't hear me. The drawer strained more and
more, and the entire nightstand started shaking violently. I was
petrified. Finally I couldn't hold the drawer any longer and it
flew open. Three of my ferrets came flying out of the drawer into
the room. The fear drained away as soon as I saw them. I woke up.
I figure you guys will have a field day with this... :-)

The dream is rooted deeply in symbolism. Here is the interpretation.
The drawer represents Soapbox and the ferrets, whom you hold in deep
admiration, represent the three moderators of this forum. Since the
majority of the moderators here have French sounding names, the
explosive significance of the release of these ferrets means that in
the next year, France will be overrun by wild dogs.

| Last night I dreamed that I walked into someone's fancy dining room.
Sitting at the far end of the table were Bill And Hillary. The rest
of the seats were occupied with kids of various ages. In the middle
of the table there was a large platter containing a mountain of
brilliant white mashed potatoes, with no other food in sight. All of
the plates also had mashed potatoes in them, but they were of a
more normal off-white color.
Bill told me to sit down. I started to back away, and he instantly
became furious and screamed "SIT DOWWWWNNN!!!" Hmm, okay. I sat and
tentatively ate some mashed potatoes.
The kid to my left, whom I'd never seen before, started telling me
about his family problems in great detail, and also that he did a
lot of paintings and other artwork. He became quite upset, and I
comforted him and told him that a lot of us have difficult childhoods
and have different ways of working out our feelings about it, like
he did with art, such as music, sports, writing, and so on.
All the while, Bill And Hillary are looking on with sympathetic and
approving expressions on their faces.
What the hell?... :-)

The kids represent welfare. The mashed potatoes represent the federal
government. the kid was trying to get off welfare, the Clinton's
approved of that, hence they were sympathetic.
I believe that will be $10, for the interpretation.

Typical sort of parent's dream. I guess I've had them all, although
the symbolism is personal. My worst nightmares were the Sophie's Choice
ones where I have to pick which child to save from some danger.
The fancy room and the authority figures are just punctuation to put
yourself into best-behavior parenting mode. Then you act out dealing
with some hypothetical child problem.
After years of being Dad, it's not surprising to do it in your sleep.
The only thing that bothers me is the mashed potatoes. Could be a
symbol of many things - it depends what associations they have for you.
They may simply represent tradition.

Hmmm, that's an interesting interpretation. I have no idea what the
potatoes were all about, because I almost never eat them in real life.
I remember being concerned with the color variation, but being too
intimidated in the presence of the Almighty Wheeler-Dealer-in-Chief to
ask about it. Besides, he'd already yelled at me once. :-)
Unfortunately, it was a pretty short dream... I was so rattled at
finding myself in the White House dining room that I must've woken
myself up. Good thing he didn't ask me if I wanted any coffee.
I do remember thinking that I'd better not tell him what I think of
him, or else I'd probably never get outta there intact. :-)

i'm telling you Chris, the potatoes stand for welfare. He wants people
off of welfare. Now, let me share this with you. If there was gravy

welfare and whomever wanted on the train.

Di, but you prefer not to see them as authority figures and so your
mind substituted other authority figures with whom you're unhappy. All
of the others present with their ordinary mashed potatoes, each with
their own problems and ways of working them out, were boxers- each with
their own plateful of unappetizing problems. The mountain of pure
white mashed potatoes represents the unattainable perfect set of
problems you'd just love to have. Your initial instincts to leave when

225.732 | I really dreamt this, and I'm scared | BULEAN::BANKS | Saturn Sap | Thu Mar 20 1997 08:33 | 24 |
| Ok, this one was wierd.
I dreamt that I had to take a class on religion as a distribution
requirement for getting my PhD. In the dream, it was taught by the
same prof that taught me causal modeling (and if you knew him, it'd be
doubly strange).
It started out ok, but by mid-semester, it'd turned into a full-scale
evangelical class wherein it was rather clear that grades were
dependent on conversion. At about the same time, I had to start
missing the first half of the classes, due to some other obligation.
It seemed like some sort of brainwashing was going on in that first
half of the class, because my classmates were looking more and more
like Stepford Wives, and become more and more distant from me, because
I didn't. Rather than being happy that I was missing that, I was
concerned about what this would mean for my final exam.
Just before I awoke, there was a scene where I joined the class,
already in progress. One classmate turned to me and said "The Ss are
really hard." Before I could question this, the entire class broke out
into some sort of "I Love Jesus" song, coreographed by the entire
audience spelling out that refrain as if they were doing the Village
People's "YMCA."

They've started again.
When I was pregnant with Andrew, I used to dream that I
still smoked cigarettes. The dreams usually included me
trying to hide the fact that I was a smoker, probably due
to the fact that my husband abhors cigarette smoke.
They also typically end with me "remembering" I'm pregnant
and feeling sudden guilt and shock at the fact that I'd been
smoking.
I had one of these dreams last night.
(Either that, or I've been walking/smoking in my sleep)
