Well can you answer this?? "Why does it work?" "Is it a bad idea?" hmmm? Ok here goes , I have a JR X-347 channel 46 and it works just fine with all the JR servos and the JR recever it came with. I then tried "just for curiosity sake" I took an old Tower Hobbies AM channel 46 RX with Tower Hobbies standard servos (about 4 years old) and plugged it into my trainer and took the X-347 TX out ,turned it on, and like magic it all seemed to work? We flew it and there seemed to be no range problems? so what gives? my JR X-347 FM TX channel 46 will work with a Tower Hobbies AM RX channel 46? Will it work with any AM receiver? or just ones with the same channel? excuse my ignorance if this sounds stupid? thanks Bill

During my many years of education in electronics I was always told (and believe) that a FM signal cannot possibly be decoded by an AM receiver due to the nature of the coding. The only explanation that I could imagine is that the frequency variance from the FM Signal causes an amplitude modulation in the AM receiver's middle frequency (455 KHz). (not shure about the correct word --^ ). Did you do a range check and did you compare it to a correct setup ? I'd be very carefull with this setup. Bernd

You're lucky - the radio magic just happened to work. Don't count on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is not a safe situation. Charlie

well after further testing with an Airtronics AM ch.46 Rx and the JR X-347 FM ch. 46 Tx it didn't work at all? We can only guess that the tower hobbies AM Rx is possibly a FM the marked AM (but it still works fine with the AM Tx?) well anyways it's probally like Charlie said radio magic/luck Bill |
