1413.1 | Welcome, Walt | LEDS::WATT | | Mon Mar 16 1992 08:20 | 14 |
| Walt,
What kind of flying do you plan to do? I would suggest first
joining a local club and find out what frequencies they allow at their
field. There are several within range of the Acton area. You really
can't go wrong with any of the better radio systems today, but I would
recommend that you stay away from the low cost AM sets. Many of the
local clubs have some restrictions on what 72 Mhz frequencies they
allow. The CMRCM club in Westboro only allows even channels on the
high end of the band and does not allow ch 20 on the low end.
I don't know much about Futaba radios, so I'll let someone else in
the file answer your question about the 7UAP.

1413.2 | My 2 cents | TRNING::FRANCO | Spin, crash and burn! | Tue Mar 17 1992 08:18 | 19 |
| Walt,
The only thing I can tell you, and you probably already realize
this, is that the 7UAPS is called a "super" system. I'm not sure
what makes it "super" compared to the 7UAP system. I would guess
it is internal components and tolerances plus better sensitivity.
I would think that either system is a good buy and for someone getting
back into the hobby I would suggest you go with the least investment
(at least in this case where both systems are pretty close to being
the same.).
You might want to call Futaba and ask if you really need to know.
Their number is: (714) 455-9888. They are in Irvine Calif. so call
in the p.m. east coast time.
Hope this helps.

1413.3 | Model Memory | WMOIS::WEIER | Wings are just a place to hang Ailerons | Tue Mar 17 1992 13:55 | 5 |

I belive that the 7UAPS has a 4 Model Memory ( similar to the JR-347)
, and the 7UAP only holds 1 model.

1413.4 | Not much else different. | BOBBY4::READ | Where we're goin' who needs roads? | Wed Mar 18 1992 08:23 | 8 |
| Dan, is right on the differences. The Super has a 4 model memory and some of the
programming features are a little different and have a few enhanced features.
I have both a 7UAF and a 7UAFS. I use them both on PCM and FM interchangeably.
Contact me off-line and I'll go through them and list the differences or mail
you a copy of the manuals.
