| Tom,
They [the AMA] aren't known for the speed with which they process
new memberships, especially at this time of year when they're under
water processing renewals. Your cancelled check to AMA is valid proof
of membership or, lacking this, you can contact AMA and request
such proof in lieu of a membership card.
Once you've finally received your card, things'll be a lot less
painful; just send off your renewal promptly and you'll receive
your new card, usually before December/January.
Adios, Al

| I sent off my application to the AMA on Dec 12 and received my card
around Feb 10. So that's around 8 weeks. The card came first,
then about a week later came the by-laws and some decals.

Does anyone know the number/address to contact in the AMA to get a copy
of contest rules. I am particularly looking for both Airplane pattern
and Heli competition rule books.

| There's an AMA Competition Roundup column in MA each month that should have the
info. I'd try calling Robert Wilke (district 1 contest coordinator) and asking
for a set.
And since I mentioned MA... Congrats to Charlie Nelson for coming in 9th at Top
Gun...
... and stealing another MA cover along the way!

and Wilmington show.

| The phone number on the back of your AMA card will get you an operator.
Tell her/him what you want and they will connect you to the proper
department. The competition rules book is 2 bucks or 2.95. Something
like that.
