That well reputed F1 oracle The Sun reports that John Barnard is headed
for Arrows when his contract with Ferrari expires.

Actually John Barnard's contract with Ferrari has termintaed. Barnard
has bought back FD&D from Ferrari. At this point I think he wants to
work as an independant advisor (for multiple clients) until a contract
    is signed with TWR.

Read on CeeFax last night that John Barnard has joined Arrows as
    Technical director.

And that Frank Dernie has been booted out to make way...

Just how good is Barnard's track record? I fail to understand why he
has such a reputation. He designed a couple of good chassis when at
Mclaren, while the team, incidentally, had the best drivers and the
    best engine around.

He's hardly a Chapman or Fohgieri.

    Edward.

.13 Just how good is Barnard's track record? I fail to understand why he

.13 Mclaren, while the team, incidentally, had the best drivers and the
    .13 best engine around.

To be complete he later did the same at Benetton and Ferrari.

I agree that his latest job (for Ferrari) did not impress anyone.

On the Arrows/TWR topic I thought Barnard (and his team) was working as
a contractor on specific projects. This way he could also work for
    other customers, like Prost ...
