703.0. "The Name Game" by COOKIE::DEVINE (Bob Devine, CXN) Fri Aug 04 1989 19:06

These are the rules for the `name game'.

    1. Try to add another name by using the last name of the
previous entry as the first name of your entry.
    2. Try to use names of real, famous people.
    3. If you can't use a person's name, a famous object's name
       is ok.
    4. If the name is obscure, give a hint who it is.
    5. If you get stuck and have to start a new chain, indicate
       that fact.

Here's an example: (I'll start with my first name)

    Bob -> Bob Hope -> Hope Diamond -> Diamond Lil -> L'il Abner -> ...

Re .0

Though the rules say that the names should be of real people, you gave
a fictitious person's name (Li'l Abner) in your example. I'm assuming
names of fictional characters are allowed. Clearly they should be well-
known, or the submitter should explain.

The best type of reply in this series is one that allows
a following reply. For example, for "Greek, Jimmy the" I
was tempted to use "Jiminy Cricket" because it sort of
rhymes with "Jimmy the". However, I was stuck trying to
think of what first name starts with "cricket"! There was
Buddy Holly's group but that didn't fit nicely.
