All you Niki Lauda fans can fly his airline from the US beginning in
1992, when he begins service on the Vienna-Los Angeles route. He's
expanding his fleet with a top-of-the-line Boeing 747-400. He'll
continue to service the Vienna-Far East routes he's been emphasizing.
Also, when the Lauda Air 767 crashed in Thailand earlier this year,
aviation authorities pooh-poohed Niki's early post-crash assertion that
the crash was caused by in-flight deployment of a thrust reverser.
Recently, his judgment was vindicated by the FAA and Boeing, who
ordered the thrust reversers disabled on all 767s pending further
analysis.
