The Bugatti supercar (the one on the cover of Top Gear magazine
recently) was on the Lotus/Bugatti stand, it was right in the centre.
Either side were a few Lotus cars, all of which looked good. There was
a racing version of the Esprit (300?) round the side of the stand.
The Lamborghini stand was a bit pathetic I thought. All swirling
artificial smoke and one Diablo (Diabolo?!) - it looked like the
reduced-weight version that really shifts though.
Can't remember the name, but some company was plugging the SEiGHT,
small yellow thing with a huge engine and three spoke alloys...looked
amazing.

Oops, I missed the Bugatti AND the Lambo stand, so I take it all
back!
re. Westfield SEIGHT
Yeah, it's Westfield, Lotus 7 replica, VERY pokey (for 'pokey' read
'F40 performace' (okay not the top speed but....)
Uses Rover V8 engine last time I looked.... albeit a highly
modified one!

| I was at the NEC on the first Sunday, and it was very busy but I did see
some of the cars others didn't ,the Lamborghini was the SE30 210mph
0-60 in 3.something seconds,Ferrari weren't there because they were at
the Paris Salon the week before and couldn't get the cars over quick
enough, the Porche stand wasn't closed when I was there and they did
have a 959,the Bugatti as mentioned before was at the Lotus stand, and
the McLaren F1 was at the BMW stand (allegedly,'cos I never seen it and
I walked right through it)presumably because of it's BMW Motorsport
engine.
With the show being so busy it took the enjoyment out of it slightly so
next year I'll go mid-week.

If your ever in the Munich area and want to go to a free car show drive
out past the old airport towards someplace I cant remember and go to
AutoKonig. Its the Range Rover dealer and its the place where they keep
all the exotic cars that you see for sale in the motoring press. If
you've ever wondered about those adverts that have a 01049 number
this is the place. I used to get my Rover serviced there
and the last time I was in there they had, 2 Lotus Esprit's, 2 Jag
XJ220's, the new Aston, a Bugatti EB110, Diablo's and an assortment of
other new, plus some very nice older cars as well. Its as you might
expect a very nice garage, they even supply free coffee (in real china
cups). AutoKonig also have a garage in town (Nymphemburg strasse) where
they sell the Ferrari's and Porches, I wouldn't go to Munich just for a
visit but if you have a few hours to kill its better to go there than
to the Car shows and its free. I was also disapointed when attending
the Munich car show to find the Porsche stand closed, is this standard
practice for Porsche ? if it is I hope they never sell another car.

| I was watching Super Channel (groan) the other night, and they had a small
report on the NEC. The cars they featured were :-
Bentley Turbo S - F1 mapped engine, 0-60 in 5.3 secs (in that monster!)
TVR Cerbera(sp?) - looked stunning to me, but they didn't say much
about it. Hard top coupe.
Jag. XJ - looked better than the old one. They mentioned a
supercharged version that did 0-60 in 5.6, pretty
impressive.
Aston DB7 - I want one.
Merc. - some sort of new, small, open top, pig ugly thing,
which according to the presenter was the star of the
show - dont ask me why.

I seem to recall its earlier in the year, maybe April/May time
frame, and it is (was) definately *NOT* worth going to. Walk down
Leopoldstrasse or go down to St Emmerans Muhler for a drink nicer
atmosphere, and better cars.
It was maybe 3/4 halls big and consisted mainly of jack and spanner
salesmen, with a few Renault clios's and a Z1 (!!)
