| I didn't think that they were road legal in the U.K.
Something about the headlights or something.

I've _overtaken_ one on the German autobahn near Frankfurt :-)
Quite a distinctive looking car! (though not a very helpful answer!)

| I've seen a Delorean on the road in the UK, and I'm sure
there's been a couple of sightings documented in the "Seen in
Passing" note. Of course, this doesn't necessarily contradict
.1 - Delorean and legality were never exactly hand in hand!
A garage owner in Chichester used to own two Deloreans, a lhd and a
rhd model. I haven't seen them lately, though.

| Thinking about this further, considering the amount of tax
payers' money the UK Government sunk into the project, it
doesn't really seem reasonable that the car would not be legal
here.
There's some interesting stuff in 24.854+; 25.1005+ & 24.2908.
Tricky question I know, but has anyone any idea what these cars are
worth nowadays?

I lived in Northern Ireland when the factory was producing them and
it was quite common to see Deloreans being tested on the roads. I have
memories of "following" one around the Dundrod circuit.
The Belfast-Londonderry train line ran around the back of the
factory and the carpark with one or two hundred stainless steel cars with the
sun glinting off them was quite a sight.

| From what I remember in a documentary some time ago...
The car's handling & performance did not live up to the hype/specification from
Mr Delorean. This lead to lower sales than expected, and helped in the Delorean
downfall.
Nowadays of course, it is collectable & handling/performance not really an issue.
I've no idea of current market prices.

| The cost from what I can gather (from looking in the Exchange and Mart)
is 14,000-15,000.

| They had the PRV (PeugeotRenaultVolvo) aluminium V6 engine that was not
designed to be used in a sports car. That's why its performance was not
equal to its looks.

| The main problem is that the company folded before any sort of real
testing and setup was done. Should they have survived another 3 years
the car would have been sorted out by then.
Anyway, for someone with time, money and skills, the DeLorean is a nice
base for development. The engine can be tuned very easily (look at the
Venturi 260 or Alpine 610) and the gearbox is very solid.

| What would be nice is to take the A610 drive line and fit it to a
Delorean. It would make the car worth owning(although I still prefer
the A610).

| Was the DMC rear-engined ? I thought it was mid-engined. If this is the
case you want to use the R25 or Venturi engine-gearbox.

| Patrick,
You are correct, the Delorean is mid-engined. I thought that it
already did use a Renault transmission.
Dale
PS. Have you heard of any rumours of Renault coming back to the US?
Seems that the A610 was designed to be marketable worldwide
including the US. Maybe through Volvo?

My brother owns two DeLoreans - one lhd auto, one rhd manual. Both
are under wraps these days, but they were always a joy to drive and
the only thing that needed to be done at first service time was to
reset the headlights to cast to the left. Sound system was pretty
good for its day too. Don't know if the supplier ever got paid though.
Prices are not good these days, being around the #15-16k mark so
I reckon we'll keep on waiting, unless someone wants to make an offer
we can't refuse......
