| This is directed to Mike Martin who send me an inter-office
note; Thanks for the info you sent, unfortunatly I don't have
access to All in one. Do you have an e_mail account?

| Can't you just reply to him? Failing that, sending to
NODE::MRGATE::"XXX::mike martin" should work, where NODE is a node
which has message router installed, and XXX is Mike Martin's location
code (e.g. REO).

USA)
if the All in one is John Smith@ABC then do
MTS$::"ABC::John Smith"

| That's true, but MTS$ is a logical pointing to NODE::MRGATE where node it a note
with the correct things installed on it.

| And addressing to John Smith @ BST is nothing to do with addressing
an ALL-IN-1 user...
The format JOHN SMITH @ LOC is Digital's implementation of the
Message Router database. As such you can address to any user by this
method, and rely on the receivers Mesage Router directing the mail
message to the correct mail system that that particular user wishes
to use.
Therefore JOHN SMITH @ LOC could translate to SMITH @ A1 @ NODE for
someone who uses ALL-IN-1; or to NODE::SMITH for someone who uses
VAX/VMS mail.
The way of sending a mail message TO Message Router varies depending
on which mail system you as a sender are using. For ALL-IN-1 the @
(or AT) is enough to tell ALL-IN-1 to give this message to Message
Router for delivery.
For VAX/VMSmail, you need to send via MRGATE (as detailed in previous
replies).
And, as said previously, ALL-IN-1 is a Digital trademark, and so
should be spelt correctly....

I think "ALL-IN-BITS" is the most correct spelling I've seen to date.

| .8I think "ALL-IN-BITS" is the most correct spelling I've seen to date.
Try ALL-IN-1 Phase II.... that is the correct name for the move to
implement client / server features within ALL-IN-1, and the
separation of the various components.....
(why does "components" make it sound like I know what I am talking
about, rather than "bits"??)
RE: .8 :-)
I agree: :-)

My reply .4 was a method that I know works, to send mail to an ALL-IN-1
account from regular VMS. If I had known it was going to be nit-picked
to death, I wouldn't have bothered. To borrow a phrase from a
Television show

| Hi Kevin, and everyone else too, I guess. What a load of replies.
Sorry I don't read Notes that often, or I woulda replied sooner. I
do have an E-mail account. I'm Michael Martin @NWD002. Whoops, that's
allinone. I think E-M is NWD002::MARTINMI. Try that. Personally I
never use it.

| This book has nothing to do with F1, but I thought I'd put it here rather than
start a new topic.
I'm currently reading a book called "Fundamentals of Motor Vehicle Technology".
It's really interesting... if you've ever wondered "how..." or "why..." on any
aspect of a car, then this book will provide a lot of useful info.
It's written by V. Hillier and F. Pittuck, published by Hutchinson, cost 11.
