developed.

Maybe they're changing production lines or something? I believe
Ford will be introducing some new engines soon. A 24v for the 2.9
XR4x4 Sierra and the Granada range and a 16v 2.0 for the XR4i and
XR4x4 2.0 litre versions of the Sierra/Sapphire.

The 2.9 24v is not supposed to be released 'till Christmas or
thereabouts. I thought the 2.0 16v was scheduled for about the same
time hence my earlier comment on switching of production lines.
Your not confused with the DOHC which still only has 8v? and the
change from 2.8 -> 2.9?

1097.7 | My mistake | IOSG::MARSHALL | Argle Bargle IV | Fri Jun 29 1990 11:55 | 13 |
| OK, I got it wrong. My Ford book rants on about the wonderful new DOHC engines,
and I mistakenly assumed they'd keep 8 valves per camshaft. It turns out they
have 4 per camshaft. Hardly seems worth having two of the things...
But FWIW, the 2.0 DOHC is available on all Granadas and all but the bottom two
Sierras.
The current 2.9 (12 valves) is on the Sierra XR4x4 and all but the bottom two
Granadas.
Is the 2.0 DOHC just a Pinto block with a new head?

The 8-valve(4 per cam) DOHC design has produced some of the toughest,
reliable engines ever made eg Suzuki GS550,750 , Kawasaki Zed's.
Perhaps Ford will do the same?

I phoned Anchor and they did'nt know they said they will get back to
me.
The new car will be the RS2000 and the turbo/cosworth will be out next
year,but the cost of this will probably be quite high.

| I read a few days ago in one of the papers that Ford are upping the spec
on the new Escort and Orion, as they aren't selling too well. The article
mentioned you can get a very good deal on some old model Escorts and
Orions, as there are still plenty of them around...
So maybe the quote is for one of the old model ones?
Peter.

Yes, they're having major body problems - particularly at Dagenham.
Other readers please forgive me if this joke that I heard came from this
notes conference - I can't remember where I read it! Still, the old ones are
the best...
Q: What is the difference between the new Ford Escort and a Jehovah's witness?
A: You can close the door on a Jehovah's witness.
