I long for the return of the Opel Manta.
I loved mine (even for all its faults) because it had no window
frame on the doors. I used to love turning up at places with the
window down and the ease with which I could casually hop out of
the car.
It did cause some mirth when I banged my head on the door frames
of friends cars though!
Having said that I can't really think of car which classifies me,
maybe that is better left to other people?

| Hum! Let me see.
On some days when I feel at ease with my life, when the sun is shining,
when the birds are singing and I take the family out for the day; the car
that typifies (sp) me would be an (sorry Derek) Volvo 760 Turbo Estate.
Now when I feel bad, p***ed off at work, and it looks like we'll have to
cancelled this years Hols because of lack of funds; then I'd think the car
would have to be something like a AM Vantage or a V12 Jag (XJs,XJS Cab).
Right now I'm happy with a Ford Serria Sapphire GlSi.

| Well, i think i'll start.
The car that typifies myself is definatley the 'hot-hatch'.
Ok i admit it, i'm struggling in there with the xr2 but it's
still there !
I love to burn about (within reason & la speed limit ;-)), and
feel the car grip the corners. I haven't driven a car i enjoy
as much - yet. Even the 205 1.9git ;-) wasn't as exhilerating (sp?),
because there was know way i would/could even push that to half
it's limit, plus it was in the CITY of London (loads of beady eyes!).
Any way thats me ! Who's next for the self analyzation concept !

| You guessed it! The citroen BX diesel: It's different, doesn't follow
the crowd, is innovative and has some interesting features. Fast when
it want's to bebut isn't pretentious about it.

912.5 | Opening for a new type of car...? | IOSG::THOMPSONR | with an IQ of a demented grape..... | Tue Jan 09 1990 16:30 | 13 |
| There isn't a car which describes my driving fully, but the Peugeot 309
GTI comes fairly close. If I could find a car which was
- small but extremely roomy
- racey yet very smooth
- nippy but with a large engine
- modelled for the woman-driver, yet designed for a man
- standard yet different
then I'd go out and buy it in a shot... (so long as it's under 2,000
new!)

For me, it would have to be a large car with 'presence' and lots of
effortless power, but not aggressive. Preferably with lots of
cylinders. And just two doors.
My current car, a BX, would fail on all counts. My previous one, a BMW
320i, didn't quite have it either. The one before, an Audi 2.2 Coupe GT
was DEFINITELY me. The new Audi coupe has no character, so it would
have to be an XJS, a Merc 300 S class, or a Rover Vitesse (ok, its got
four doors).

| Me?.... an LT1 Corvette Convertible.
Unfortunatly this and modern traffic don't mix(also me?).
So our LR 90 V8 County comes close, giving thrills at half the speed,
making up the performance frustrations by intimidation through bulk.
Also it's better adapted to present day road condition.
Peter(who, more realisticly, is like a 505 Familiale)

| > A silence from the BMW fraternity ?
At the risk of abuse, a) because of the marque
b) because of the singer
c) because of the mentioned speed
a line from a Chris Deburg (sp) song always struck me as how I'd
like to see myself,
In a BMW six-thirty-five
Going smooth at 90
Feeling good to be alive...
(although i'd happily update that to the 8 series)

nice to see that he is keeping up to date :-)
