| First Lancia note I found so...
Heard on the radio (210) this morning that Mike Spence in Reading (Shinfield)
are calling it a day and liquidating with debts of 1M!
I wonder who forced the issue?
Spokesperson blamed it on high interest rates and its inability to service
loan repayments.
Nobody out there with large deposits in their grubby hands I hope?

Let us know if the receiver decides to have an auction.
Lot's of nice Lancia goodies down at Spence's, not to mention special
tools.
I'm an avid auction buyer/tyre kicker
(Bidding cartels discussed. Prices fixed. Rings frowned upon - unless
I'm in them)

Re Mike spence
As far as I know they have been bought out by someone
and are open for trade as usual, so there wont be any cheap clear
out sales. A friend of mine has just had his Audi Quattro tuned
up to 260 bhp by them, quite impressive.

That's odd. I go past there every day, & it's all empty. No sign
of life, & a receiver has been appointed. Perhaps the maintenance
business or some of the staff have set up on their own.

You could be right. Mike Spence owed my friend over 5000 pounds
for turbo boost units which he built for them, so this might have
been part of his repayment through the receiver, but he gave me
the impression that they where open for trade.
I would avoid Mike Spence unless your really desperate for parts,
Ive heard bad things about them.

853.14 | 235bhp from BBR - It works ! | CRATE::RUTTER | J.R. | Mon Sep 24 1990 18:20 | 21 |
| More power available from Brodie Brittan Racing, for all sorts of cars.
I've had an extra 50bhp or so added to my integrale and it still seems
reliable, just like lowering the final drive really - response is now
noticeably better in upper gears.
They used to race Mitsubishi Colt thingies before, so know lots about
them. They now race those Cosworth rep-mobiles and appear to know
even more about them. Also will uprate most turbomotors, as well as
their so-called 'atmo-chips' which increase power on certain non-turbo
engines (especially Porsche).
If this information appears elsewhere in the notes file, then sorry,
but I think they are a good company and I have been pleased with the
service they gave me. More important, they have a cabinet full of
parts fitted by some other companies which they have replaced with
their own conversions. They appear to have a lot of letters from
satisfied customers to back up their claims.
I may enter more information on this company, maybe in another entry,
or perhaps another reply to this conference.

853.16 | Lancia Thema Turbo 16V chip change etc. | COPCLU::MATHIESEN | | Thu May 02 1991 16:56 | 18 |

Hi
I did by a mistake put this reply as a new note (#1426) instead
og doing a dir/title, (thanks Mr. Moderator), but after leaving
the EIS and joining sales my brain..........
Anyway her it comes in a short form so I hope this note is'nt dead
My car is a Lancia Thema Turbo 16V, without cat.
I'm looking for a firm in England/Germany selling tyres, felloes,
sportsuspension and are experienced in doing motortuning, chip
change etc. Due to the tax level in denmark it's very expencive.

See Brodie Brittan Racing - highly recommended.
Besides various levels of engine modifications, they will
provide alternative suspension - not sure they do suspension
for the Thema, but they can do lots with your engine.
See note 835.14, and others under title of either 'chip' or 'turbo'
somewhere else in the conference. One of the first few notes in
the conf. lists a directory. That's quicker then dir/title...

| re .16 a "Felloe" is a segment of rim on a wooden wheel. There are
usually eight or six. They are usually tenoned together and the
contraction of the metal tread when it cools down holds the felloes,
spokes and the hub nicely tight together.
Maybe this noter has translated the Danish for rim literally?
