644.0. "Hanging too good ?" by CURRNT::EVANSC () Mon Jun 19 1989 13:12

So there I was gently snoozing off the previous night excesses,
when at about 1:30 am Sunday morning I hear what sounded like drunken
kids (must have been teenagers). I did what I normally do when awoken
by such noises, went to look out of the window to make sure my car
was ok. I couldn't see any damage and the kids had gone, so back
    to sleep.

The next morning I go out and find one front wiper seriously bent
and a broken ariel ! My neighbour had a similar problem, except
they had done both his front wipers and the rear one.

I have never experienced this problem before, and am very annoyed
to say the least. What can be done about it ? I suppose you could
say I should put the ariel down, but you can't exactly remove the
wipers every night ! Would an alarm have helped ?

If they've done it once will they do it again ?

No - hanging is not too good for them, it just depends what you
    hang them by.....

    Chris.

A big thank you to the fatherless soul who desperately needed a new
Pioneer radio-cassette for his car. I REALLY wanted a busted passenger
door lock and a buckled door. I don't know quite what was inserted in
the lock to break it, but I do know where I'd like to insert it!

I suppose I should be grateful that they didn't damage the car inside
stealing the radio, but it is bloody annoying to have to make one of
my two 'free' claims because some p***k didn't have the sense to break
    the bloody window!

Sorry to hear that Mark. Where was the car parked? Maybe your 'friend'
decided that it was quieter to bend metal than to smash a window.

Bad luck Mark.

I had the radio stolen out of my new BX a couple of months ago, but I was
fortunate in that they broke in without doing any damage - don't know how.

Came out of it quite well as I ended up with a better radio than before as
Blaupunkt had upped the spec on the old Atlanta 47 that Citroen fitted.

Mark,

I thought the Renault radio was meant to be removable.

644.25"Fancy a screwdriver in your lock sir?"SYSTEM::GOODWINPete. DEC/EDI. Wassa Data Server? ARM-wrestlerWed Jan 23 1991 14:0313
A month or so back, some kind souls decided to investigate the
possibilities of inserting a screwdriver in my door lock. Just to make
life even more interesting, they decided Daz was appropriate, so my car
got covered in blue powder (and suds later as I drove to work, it was
    raining).

I did tell PC plod, who wrote to me weeks after the event stating they
were still looking into the incident. Luckily, they didn't break in,
    just destroyed the lock.

Maybe the Daz was a subtle hint...
