2041.31The Laundry SolutionDPE1::ARMSTRONGThu Apr 03 1997 18:0827
Has anyone ever heard of a product called 'The Laundry Solution'?

It is supposed to be an alternative to laundry detergent.

It's a small platic ball containing ionized water that you
put into your washer and leave there and then just wash your
clothes normally (but without any detergent). The literature
claims that (and I'm typing this from the brochure) it emits a
negative charge through the walls of the container into your
laundry water. This causes the water molecule cluster to
disassociate, allowing much smaller individual water modecules
to penetrate into the innermost part of the fabric.

Elsewhere in the brochure it claims that it forces the dirt to
leave the fabric because dirt is positively charged and it
is negtively charged, creating an electronic release of dirt.

You may still want to use bleach and/or spot/stain remover in the
same way you would today, but you do not need detergent. Also, for
heavily soiled clothes, you may need to add borax.

To me it, reads a lot like the AMWAY water softener product.

It is distributed through a 'pyramid' marketing scheme.

    Anyone ever hear of it?

Probably sold by the same people who sell those "fuel line magnets"
that align the gasoline molecules flowing through the fuel lines
in your car to give you better gas mileage.

If you care to perform the experiment, you would probably find that
washing your clothes without normal detergent and without these
"miracle balls" would have exactly the same effect as washing with the
balls. Water and agitation alone will take out a lot of dirt.

Adding any of these things to the wash water, without the balls, will
have the same effect on your clothes as with the balls.

I've seen these things advertised in catalogs. I can't imagine how they might
work and I have seen no independent tests of them.
