1020.0. "NAME NEEDED FOR BIRMAN BOY" by MKOTS3::OFFEN () Wed Aug 07 1996 15:16

    OK, gang,

I need your help. I found a young Birman (purebred) on my porch last
Friday evening. He was being attacked by the other strays in the
neighborhood that I feed. I immediately rescued him and brought him
inside. He was a starving grateful kitten. I have called the local
Vets (2 of them), the Humane Shelter, the Animal Control Officer and
checked for a note at the grocery store which is near me. I am posting
a sign (very basic) this weekend to see if we can find his true owners.

    His stats are:

    	About 6 months old
    	Male (hopefully neutered)
Either Seal Point or Chocolate Point He has a beautiful coffee-
cream coloring with the dark brown points. He has the famous white
    	tips on his toes.
    	Very friendly.
Sort of a Klutz at this time. He thinks nothing of knocking things
    	over.

My dilemma is - if I don't find his owners - he will probably join my
crew of seven. I need a super good name to go with the ones that my
cats already have. Here is a list of their names and breeds:

    	White Lightning White Turkish Angora
    	Black Thunder Black Turkish Angora
    	DejaVu American Domestic Calico Shorthair
    	Patches American Domestic Black/White Shorthair
My Grey Shadow of Dragonlanse	British Blue Persian
Silver Lining of Dragonlanse	Black Smoke Persian
Black Diamond Black w/Diamond Maine Coon

    	?? Chocolate/Seal Point Birman

Isn't this fun?? I swear I have a bright red neon sign that only cats
can see. How else would I have Patches, Shadow, or Diamond plus all
the other ones I have rescued and found homes for ??

Given that you tend to name after coat markings/colors, and given how
popular different types of coffee are right now, how about somethign
like Mocha or Caffe Latte? (I don't drink coffee, so those are the only
things I've ever heard about. I bet if you wondered into a Starbucks
you would find some intereesting potential names.)

Congrats on the new baby. He sounds adorable!

OK... here is the little Birman boy's name......

    Murphy's Catpurrchino of Dragonlanse.

I had to add the Murphy to keep the SO happy (as in Murphy's law). He
had been saying that Murphy's Law says that all strays will come to my
home and he liked the name Murphy (I didn't)....

Now let's see if he grows into the name............

Thanks for a really good name. I'm calling him Chino Boy for short.

minds think alike, it really did occur to me that a nickname could be
    "Chino" :-)

could ever wish for, likes his stomach kissed etc!!, Dot a jet black
feline with one small white dot under her chin, Taggie a tortoishell,
and Muffy a tabby. All my neighbourhood loves them, they are all

1020.7I FOUND HIS HOME .....MKOTS3::OFFENTue Aug 13 1996 08:5513
Well, here is the latest update on the little Birman Boy. I finally
found out some of his history. He lived on the street behind me. His
owners moved away and *LEFT HIM BEHIND !!!!* One of the neighbors on
that street had been putting food out for him but the other strays were
probably eating it. There are at least 3 adult unaltered male strays
in the area and they are very good at pushing other cats around. The
person putting the food out didn't want him so I guess I am now going
    to be known as.....

Sandi - mom to Eight is DEFINITELY Enough...

PS. He has an appointment with the Vet this coming Thursday for his
    	 shots, etc.

Wow, that makes me fantasize about sending a "please forward to
new address" package... full of used-litter-box-contents }:->

So glad Chino Boy found you, though (you must be sort of relieved
that you get to keep him, now that you love him and all...:-)

RE There are many adorable new kittens at the shelter.....

One less than what there was before. We now have one of them. It's
been a week this past Sunday. Little Moki (kinda short for Mocca, her
coloring) has already tought the other 4 where their place is and she
    is quite at home.

We started off with one stray, Tigger. But after about a year, we
really felt he needed someone to play with so I picked up Gizmo at
the vets. Then Orphie (the next orphan) was just so adorable he had
to join the family. Three was DEFINATELY enough. Errr, until JOJO
joined the family. She was a stray that we were taking care of and just
couldn't leave behind when we moved. Four was ABSOLUTELY the limit. I
told my wife "I'd" leave if another feline came into the house. Now
we're 5 with little Moki and I love her to death. Why do I bother. Just
    bring em on. 8^)

1020.17UPDATE ON CHINO BOYMKOTS3::OFFENWed Aug 28 1996 08:5722
Well, Here is an update on CHINO BOY. He has been neutered and has had
his shots. He has completely taken over the house. He has absolutely
no fear of Diamond (the INFORCER CAT) and has stolen all of Silver's
toys. He loves tackling both Diamond and Shadow from behind and has
even taken on Lightning (the QUEEN). He is also a KLUTZ.... We come
home every night to books and papers all over the floor. He has a
habit of jumping up on things and then sprawling so much that
everything in his path gets moved or dumped. He loves to spill coke
cans (DADDY'S) and no glass is safe. He now feels confident and safe
enough to *walk away from his food*.. The vet figures he was born
sometime in February so we gave him a birth date of February 9th, the
day before mine. He is definitely a DADDY'S BOY and could care less
about me (BRAT !!) He is a very clean cat and uses the kitty-boxes
each and every time. I have figured out that he is a Seal-Point Birman
and he is going to be absolutely gorgeous when he is grown up (if I let
him live that long ...). He and Silver are going to be good friends
once Silver realizes that he is still the KING in my eyes. Silver is
such a good cat that Chino Boy couldn't ask for a better role model.

Now if I can just get him to leave the papers and books ON the tables..

Sandi (S stands for SUCKER !!!!)
