1079.0. "Can't find Don McLean" by CELICA::CLEARY (Bush for President? Just say NO) Mon Feb 08 1988 10:43

    Has anyone seen Don McLean's American Pie or Greatest Hits on CD.
    If so, where did you find it and how does it sound?

    Thanks in advance,

    John

1079.1MY MY MISS AMERICAN PIENCVAX1::JAMESMon Feb 08 1988 17:198
    I SAW IT IN A RECORD STORE IN MINNEAPOLIS. IT IS BLUE PACKAGING
    AND HAS A CHAIR AND GUITAR ON THE COVER WITH CLASSICAL GAS AS THE
    LEAD SONG. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND IT IN ANY MAINSTREAM RECORD/CD
    SHOP IN YOUR AREA.

    GOOD LUCK IN FINDING IT.

1079.2American Pie sounds GREAT!PARSEC::PESENTIJPTue Feb 09 1988 04:588
I found "American Pie" about 6 months ago in the Mass/NH area, but I forget
where. It looks just like the album (if memory serves me, a red, white, and
blue thumb in the foreground with DM in the background?). The line up is just
like the album. Classical Gas is nowhere to be found. Perhaps .-1 is
referring to the "Greatest Hits" album?

    Classical Gas was done by Mason Willams never appeared on american
    pie. The cover described in .1 sounds more like Mason Willams and
    Manheim Steamroller's version of Classical Gas.

1079.4Look at Lechmere'sNSSG::HALLWed Feb 10 1988 08:214
    I found American Pie at Lechmere's in Nashua. Sounds much better
    than my worn album.
