268.0. "Technics SL-P300" by AKOV05::WETZL () Sun Jan 26 1986 21:02

I have seen the Technics SL-P300 on a few shelves recently.
This unit is supposed to replace the SL-P2. From some
magazines and this notesfile I have have heard mostly
positive comments on the SL-P2, does anybody know how the
-P300 compares to it. Is it worth to spend $ 299 for the
SL-P300??

  I bought a Technics SL-P300 about 2 months ago and I am extremely pleased
with the unit. It has a new fine focused laser (only 1 beam) but seems to
perform as well as the 3 beam laser Technics models. I am not real familiar
with the SL-P2 but I think it has a key pad on the unit for track selection

But on the SL-P300 that function is on the remote control unit not on the
player. It uses a 44.1 kHz sampling rate,has a frequency response of 4-20000 hz,S/N ratio more than 100 dB. Seek time from inner to outer track is around 1 sec.
  I am not sure what else i can tell you. If you need some more specs let me
know and I can pass them on. I and very pleased with the unit and would buy
another one at this time, but ask me in 6-12 months from now when I have had
enough time to really use it.

   Not all of my reply made it. I had also listed the S/N ratio is more than
100 dB.
