The Credit Card hot-line has been closed following technical problems,
and according to the recorded message tix are now only available by
post or from any agencies which may still have them - the hot-line may
be re-opened at the end of April if any tix are left. However, a lot of
Agencies who have run out have been misleading caller by telling them
the event is sold out, which is not the case.

Also, although it isn't being publicised anywhere, the Tourist Info.
office in Glastonbury has access to a large number of tickets which can
be be ordered by phone for 80. Can't remember the number
    unfortunately, but it's worth calling them - I got 4 tix (max/person)
from them on Saturday morning after sending off a postal application
    the day before.

| | Incidentally -
anyone know how much truth there is in the rest of the
rumours (other than Bowie, the Stones and Oasis playing)
that Micheal Eavis is actually quite ill :-( now and this
is likely to be the last Glastonbury. :-(

| | I haven't heard anything along those lines. It is worth noting that he
just stood as a parliamentary candidate with the intention of doing the
job long term if needed, I can't see him doing that if he was ill.

out where they heard it from ...

| | I think your source may be a bit mixed up - Michael was ill during the
autumn/winter of 95/96 which was the main reason there was no
festival last year. He' s okay now and, as far as I know, he plans to run
the festival into the next century.
Incidentally, the current problems with the Phoenix - they want to
increase capacity to 45,000 from 30,000 - really sohws the difference
between the organisations and the way they with the local council.
Michael Eavis has an agreement with the local council to run the
festival 'til 2000, as long as he continues to meet various requirements -
applying for a license each year then becomes a formality. The
Phoenex organisers on the other hand seem to be starting from scratch
each year, I can't believe they've lined up bands and sold tickets
before they applied for the license ! more amazing still is that they
didn't think to apply for the same license they had last year and then
apply for an increase in capacity... as they've successfully done at
Glastonbury.
Oh, for those of you who are going, the 'park & ride' scheme which
they were hoping to introduce isn't going to happen after all - just
more and more car parks around the perimeter. good news if you
usually get there later than Thursday morning %^)
The advanced party of the Leek contingent will be there on
Wednesday when the gates open (there should be 20-25 of us this
year), camping in the same place as last year - somewhere up from the
Jazz stage, towards the railway track/ kids play area. Come and look us
up if you like - there'll be a flag pole with a white yin/yang thing on a
black background, and a Grateful Dead SYF flying from it - oh and a
couple of aircraft repeater lights (blue & orange) flashing away on top.
I should have a detailed map of this years site avaialable soon if
anyone would like a copy...

| | Yep ! they've been to every festival since 1989 - the SYF is getting a bit faded though,
perhaps I should do another one before setting off this year...
BTW, if any of you do try to find us, I'm the folically challenged one (might even get me
head shaved for this year !) in the tie-dye shirt - just so as you can tell me apart form the
rest of my friends who will probably be wearing tie-dyes too....

| | Good to hear it where the mix up came from... I can believe
it with half the people I know they'd probably get it a couple
of years out...suprising we haven't had anyone going to the
stonehenge festival recently :-) ... but then there's always
that couple of people that you can't be sure whether they
actually really do know better than the rest of us...
>The advanced party of the Leek contingent will be there on
>Wednesday when the gates open
Maybe see you there.(ha).. if I can just persuade the rest
of our party that it's worth going up wednesday... especially
after queueing on the roadside for *hours* in the sun last
year on the wednesday afternoon at phoenix :-) Still a bit of
sneaky not moving of the verge until I'd seen that they *weren't*
sending cars back out and down the road to jointhe end of the
miles long queue got us to be one in the first row of cars
parked in the first field so worth hanging around for!
(not to mention the right down my the main runway camping
spot!)
>there'll be a flag pole with a white yin/yang thing on a
>black background,
Right, I'll try to remember it - as the previous comment suggested
it's not exactly going to be the only yin/yang flag there I suspect,
if you happen to see our tents (dunno how many yet, probably
at least 5 potentially quite a few more) I expect our banner will
be recognisable - except we can't get it up a pole so you'll
probably fall over it before.. last years phoenix it was suspended
between the two tallest tents - acted as a nice shade from the
sun too!
It's a large pink sheet with a purple cat painted in on in
phoenix stylisation... not the trendiest of banners but
damned unique and recognisable.

Yes please!

I forgot to mention that the flag pole is around 20ft high, if you look for it after Dark you will
see it, the light are pretty bright... If you're wandering around in daylight, out camp is the
one with the upturned trailer between a couple of the tents.
I've just checked the aerial photo from '95 and we're in the second field on the left as you
walk along the railway line.... the field after the NME stage.
