1360.1 | Spice Girls = Total Genius | WOTVAX::DAVIESG | I had too much to dream last night | Thu Aug 08 1996 14:18 | 12 |
| Spice Girls.
I've got all their albums.
This has got to be the most exciting musical development of the 90's so
far. Not only can they sing and dance at the same time, but if you want
to be their lover you've got to "zigga-zig-ah" with all five of 'em
(presumably at the same time)f.
Enough said?

as long as they're not going to sing whilst "zigga-zig-ah" ing, then I
think we could come to some arrangement %^)

| My mums next door neighbour has three teenage daughters - I went home
for a few days a couple of weeks ago and was treated to non stop
renditions of the Spice Girls, all three versions from the CD. This is
in addition to it being constantly on the BOX. So it's not just
young impressionable boys who are interested... strange as it may seem.
They are a bit crap though...

| G,
Are you on about *all* Jungle music? I agree too a small degree that it
can sound like a complete pile of random breakbeats but when programmed
well/intelligently you can end up with some good choons i.e "Junglist"
- Tribe of Ishacaar.

Oh, I agree the toons can be quite interesting, but why do they bother
with lyrics & vocals ? leave it out and save on the wages I say %^)

is mainly cr*p. But then I hardly ever hear the charts...

1360.11 | answer: none | CHEFS::PANES | DECattrition the tool of the 90s | Thu Aug 15 1996 09:31 | 22 |
| mmm .. Phil Collins. Lets start with the man himself and then we'll go onto
his music.
In a previous incarnation I had the "privilege" of working with the
great man. He possessed a phenomenally huge ego and made arrogance an
art form. But what about Philly the actor???? More wooden than
Pinochio. Phil the philanthropist. Only a git of the highest order would
pull a stunt like playing Live Aid in London then flying Concorde to
the States. Nice touch for the starving , eh Phil??
Apparently Phil is a good drummer ( drummer - a person who hangs around
with musicians) - thats maybe but his music is the crassest of the crass.
His caterwauling with Genesis was bad enough, but his dilettante attempts
at pop with hipblack musicians were so shallow even Kate Moss couldn't drown
in them. As to his plaintiff love songs and songs about the homeless...gag.
Do us a favour Phil, have a stable relationship and spare us your pap pop
angst.
So what redeeming features has he got?

So what redeeming features has he got?
Well, he's older than me, so with a bit of luck he'll die first giving
me some peace. Apart from that, and the fact that he is no longer with
Genesis, I guess the answer is none.

have you ever considered a career in music journalism ? That note was
better than anything I've read in the press about Phil Collins !
I agree totally BTW %^)

This is wonderful, I couldn't have put my hatred of Phil Collins any
better than this. The man is detesable in the extreme.
Who can the forget the magical moment when he actively canvassed for
the Tories, "I'll leave the country if Labour get in", they didn't,
but, he still left the country (pity not this mortal coil).
Or, in the wonderful Genesis rockumentry (if you like!), when our Phil
starts going on about how much he ALWAYS HATED progressive rock and
hippies and how he was ALWAYS INTO soul music. Seeing as it was
progressive rock fans who made Genesis and therefore Mr.Collins, its
fitting that years later he should turn round and say a big "f*ck you" to
the people he owes everything too. He meant it, maaan!
Its nice that some other people have seen through this obnoxious little
runt. Lets hope he never records another note.

You may wish to save this reply as we rarely, sorry never, seem to

As was said in another reply, that was one of the best notes in this

opinion of the $"!^%&"!!!

A bit extreme, and also a double edged sword, people might
play even more of his tosh.
apart from that, I congratulate you on your objective, and well
balanced notes ( and those of others ). Our survey confirms what
I have always believed...i.e. he is a weasel-faced, talentless,
uninspiring waste of radio/hi-fi space.

I do not like Genesis - Gabriel, Hackett, Collins, whoever
Not only did it spawn Collins' solo career but it also threw up (good

stand due to his world music studios and varied singles output.
