The Stranglers " About Time"
After several months on the road, plus going back to their original way
of recording albums ie Rattus) this was a very good album.
The world also missed the single "Lies and Deception" and is a sadder place
for doing so.
Pj (looking forward to 16th in anticipation)

| Some people appear to have difficulty in naming one album ,
and it is not an easy task.
After some deliberation ( with myself ), as an album that will continue
to engage me and stand the test of time , I have to plump for
The Bends - Radiohead. It possesses some very strong songs
allied to some top notch arrangements.
Runners up for this year;
( the oh so delightful ) Be a Girl - The Wannadies
Out Come The Wolves - Rancid
King - Belly
Its Great to be Straight , yeah ! - Black Grape
The Kojak Variety - Elvis Costello
Grand Prix -Teenage Fanclub.

| My fave album for the year was definitely (not maybe):
What's the Story (Morning Glory).. OASIS
(Noel Gallagher is still the cutest thing on two legs in the music
industry - and talented too!)
With a more than Honourable Mention to:
The Bends RADIOHEAD
(one of the most underrated albums of the year even in light of
some success...)

| My vote would have to be....
The Bends Radiohead
Not sure about any honourable mentions, possibley Pulp, probably not Blur.
The Kojak Variety by Elvis Costello was pretty good though, so probably
second place to Declan.

Did no one like "Made In Heaven", the new Queen album?
I thought it went to number 1 over there.
The best of 1995 in my opinion.

1337.22 | | ZUR01::ASH | Grahame Ash @RLE | Fri Dec 22 1995 12:34 | 9 |
| Although I could easily agree with the Oasis and Morissette camps, my vote
goes to the old man, more in amazement that he can still do something new after
all of these years:
David Bowie - 1. Outside.
Happy Christmas to All,
grahame
|
1337.23 | | CHEFS::FIDDLER_M | The sense of being dulls my mind | Fri Dec 22 1995 12:56 | 27 |
| It was a very vague year for me...nonoe of my faves were from outside
of the mainstream. I'm not sure if my tastes have changed, or if the
mainstream has changed. Anyways:
Radiohead - The BEnds
Paul Weller - Stanley Road.
PJ Harvey - To bring you my love.
Fave singles:
Ash - girl from Mars
Wannadies - You and ME song.
Pulp - common People.
Best musical memory of 95 - Pulp doing Common People at Glastonbury, a
perfect pop moment. Julian Cope landing on my head runs it a very
close second.
Don't bother of 95 - Transglobal Underground - Interplanetary Meltdown.
Some very dull remixes which go nowhere.
I'm still looking for something new and difficult which makes me go
'yeah...'.
Thats about it...Happy Holidays all, good listening.
