I'd love to go, but I'm spent out after Glastonbury. I think all of
the day tix for Saturday have gone, although I'm still tyempted by the
SUnday line up (featuring Ali Farka Toure, I think thats how its spelt
    anyways).

Far too pricey for me.
1315.3Anyone got a line up??ADDULT::ROBERTSONThere's always next year!!!Thu Jul 20 1995 13:117
Get a Passport to Leisure. Only costs 7.50 for the day. Not bad for 12 hours
entertainment. Weigh that up against 8 to watch Swansea for 90 minutes!!

I'm going on Sunday. I wanted to go tomorrow for Trans Global Underground, but I
can't make it unfortunately.

I'm really tempted to try some of the Capoeira (sp) Brazillian Martial
Arts/Dance stuff. It looks really cool, Somehow I think that a Lard
like me won't be so graceful!

Aye, or there's the "Swansea festival"! Featuring Roy Wood, Bonnie Tyler,
Energy Orchard, Tom Robinson band etc. etc.!!!

10 quid for 3 (or 4, I think) days.

Are you sure you're looking at the 1995 festival, looks more like it should be
1975 ;-)

I went,(as you'd expect what with me starting the note). and it was
CRAP. Don't bother going stay away from any future festivals etc etc
    etc.

Right then, Now I've got rid of most of you I'll tell you the truth!

It is without a doubt the only festival still in exsistence that is a
festival in every sense of the word. Quite simply it makes all of the
other festivals look like the Media Controlled farces that they are. I
include all of te festivals that I have been to in the past, such as
Reading , Glasters and Pheonix, I won't speak for ones that I haven't
    visited.

I can't list highs and lows as there was only one big high. From the
moment that I pitched tent and the group next to us asked if I wanted a
cup of tea then I knew that this was going to be a cool time!

I went with a very limited knowledge of World Music mainly going
because I wanted to do a Festy this year (well you have to) and the
others had already lost their appeal. I am now very aware of just how
small my exsistance is, how little I have done and experienced in life
and very ashamed of the culture to which I am a member. In one weekend
I found myself talking to virtually every nationality of people either
using pidgeon language or actions, trying consciously not to slip into
English which I think is very arrogant (us to expect the whole world to
talk it just 'cos we beat them all up a few hundred years ago). As
most of the artists I met were African then French was the order of the
    day..

I'm rabbiting so I'll get to the point. This is the only music festy
left. It's not about how cool you look, not about which band you have
on your T shirt, not about getting in the moshpit for a scrap. It's
just about Music, Dance and cultures.

Very Educational, very enjoyable, totally awesome, if you have an
open mind and truly love music then go next year. If you just want to
listen to whatever NME tells you is cool then go to Reading with all of
    the other sad puppets!!

    See ya

1315.11May just go surfing insteadCHEFS::BARKERNThis town needs an enemaMon Jul 24 1995 18:406
You probably will 'cos being the fickle sod that I am I will go anyway
and moan about it the next day!

May go to see the Royal Short Icelandic Princess.

Anyone know what the lineup for this years WOMAD is?

1315.13CHEFS::FIDDLER_MThe sense of being dulls my mindMon Jun 10 1996 14:5510
Well, I got my leaflet... This years line up looks good..

Apart from all of the obscure peeps that I have never heard of, you also
get Transglobal Underground (Fri), Banco de Gaia (Sat), and Dreadzone
(Sun). I think day tix are 22 (18 Fri), and weekend tix are 50.

I'm getting into some seriously creative accountancy to see how I can
    afford to go...

Hi Mike,

I'm sure some kind soul who lives in Reading (and has a Passport to Leisure
card) will make you a kind offer soon (I'd send you mine, but it ran out two
weeks ago)

I'll check that one out - do you just need the passport to leisure when
you get the tix, or will I need it again on the gate?

    m
1315.16ZUR01::ASHGGrahame Ash @RLEMon Jun 10 1996 16:274
I think the way it used to work was you could only pay on the gate - may have
changed by now though.

I think that PTL holders can get one day tix in advance, for a mere
10! Sounds a bargain to me...
