| So sorry to interrupt you, Mr/Miss/Mrs/Ms Furniture, but would you be so
awfully kind as to tell us who you are? Topic 5, I believe...

| Vent are about to start recording their first album with Steve (I
caused Dave Gedge to get a slap off Courtney Love) Albini. Having heard
a couple of their demos, I can confidently say this is not The Wonder
Stuff II.
Miles Hunt and his manager (Tank, former Ned's Atomic Dustbin manager
and occasional XFM DJ) have started a new record label called 'For All
The Right Reasons', who have not signed Redwood (contrary to what the
NME says).

| All sounds good...what do these demos sound like? Has Miles grown his
hair again?

| The sound is fairly 'hardcore' but veering towards the melodic side.
Miles (due to baldness/straightedge kudos) has shaved all his hair off.
He currently lives in a house, a very big house, in the country
(Shropshire)

| Sounds reasonable, anyone from Wolverhampton (or thereabouts) has a
soft spot for Shropshire. I even had some Shropshire Blue cheese and a
biscuit for my tea last night.

1305.8 | Vent 414 22/6/96 Bristol Fleece & Firkin | CHEFS::UKARCHIVING | for once in my file | Tue Jul 23 1996 11:51 | 9 |
| Saw Vent last night at the Fleece and Firkin in Bristol and they were
very good, powerful but not overbearing, tight sound without being too
tight. The songs are unlikely to appeal to a mass market, but are not
too 'difficult' to listen to. Very promising especially as no Wonder
Stuff songs were played.

A single, Fixer, should be out around the 19th of August.

1305.9 | Probably a robbery=Scooby Snax n'est pas? | CHEFS::UKARCHIVING | for once in my file | Mon Jul 29 1996 17:24 | 6 |
| Anyone who is interested might like to listen to Radcliffe and the Boy
Lard tonight on wunnerfulwuneffemm as Vent are doing a session.

A single 'Fixer' is out shortly.

| Vent 414 are still around but rapidly mutating into The Wonder Stuff.
Miles is still there, Morgan (bassist) has left to play with Robbie
Williams' new band, Pete Howard (drummer) ex-Eat is still there, new boy
is...Malcolm Treece (guitarist) ex of, urrr, the Wonder Stuff.
Expect new material this summer.

| Definately 'new' new material, Miles has got that 'Big Black'/Steve
Albini thing out of his system now.
