1117.0. "Pixies - gone to heaven" by YUPPY::ASHLEYSMITH (turn on, tune in, cop out..) Fri Feb 12 1993 17:29

No mention in this conference about the sad demise of the Pixies -
I have to admint they were one of the few bands who could actually
make me sit up and listen to the radio. Personally, I don't think
they ever made a duff album and I look forward to whatever Frank
Black (his new persona) does in the future. Any views?

Yes, sad news. I liked all their albums a lot, and I was rather looking
forward to the next one. There's some consolation though, with the
Breeders being quite successful, and Black Francis's new "Frank Black"
    project.

I used to be really into The Pixies but sort of lost touch with them
over the last year or so,this though is indeed bad news.

Can someone just tell me if Trompe de le Monde was their last album.

The Frank Black CD arrived in the post this morning, and since I'm
currently benefitting from an office CD player, I've already given it a
listen. First impressions are favourable. It's rather like the recent
Pixies stuff, but it doesn't quite have the same edge to it. Worth
    buying though.

Frank Black's new single 'Men in Black', comes out in January as
does the follow up to the 'Teenager of the Year' LP, entitled
    'The Cult of Ray'.

He's doing a tour also, supported by the Swedish kings of Indie Pop -
    The Wannadies.

Bit of a lime lapse here but, do you (anyone) have any details
	(however vague) about this tour?

	Kevin (Obsessed Pixies/FB fanatic...sad really)
