    Well, Vince Clarke is an Essex man.  I don't know about Andy Bell.

    And being gay (in Mr Bell's case) only compounds their (alleged)
    crapness? Please explain yourself, on second thoughts preferably

    Erasure are a waste of disc space,  plastic,  tape,  rubber,  time, 
    air,  etc.............
    
    The only reason that Erasure still exist is that Vince Clark has
    finally found someone who is as crap as him!!!!  All the others he has
    worked with were far too talented and consequently showed him up.
    
    ie Alison Moyet,  Fergal Sharkey,   in fact Depeche Mode are the only
    people that were crapper than him that's why he left them.

    I couldn't agree more. I'm sure that if everyone tried, we could have a
    note 'Why are XXXXXXXX crap?' for every band around. It appears to be
    pointless and bigoted. Some notes slag off bands whilst being fun,
    namely the various tosh notes, this one just seems to be for
    opinionated outburst. If you like that kind of thing, please go to

    up until reading this note you thought that they were quite good.
    
    What's more this entire conference is a waste of disc space,  not a

    So, ok, with a nod in the direction of Mr Hawkes (who doesn't care why), 
    what is it that some of you think is so crap about Erasure?
    
    The following is a list of things which make them better than a lot of 
    other groups :-
    
    i) Their material is their own, not stolen from other records or simply
       naff cover versions.
    
    ii) They make an attempt to sing (ok, you may not like the singer's
    voice, but at least he doesn't talk about how big his dick is and how
    much coke he's sold today!).
    
    iii) They've been around a long time, so they obviously have something
    which makes people go back and buy a second album/single whatever after
    the first.
    
    iv) It seems that paranoid homophobics don't like 'em.

    No mate I've always considered Erasure to be a complete load of
    contrived shit.  As is most of the British Pop scene.  It's just a
    shame that many people can't see that they are being totaly led up the
    garden path.  You lot will fall for anything if it's stuck infront of
    you by the bloody Radio Stations.  Next you'll be saying that Gary

    BTW, if you don't like a band's music, fine. If you don't like their
    image, fine. I agree with you, I don't particularly like Erasure. I
    tend to find the music irritatingly simplistic and superficial. Mainly
    because of Vince Clarkes reliance on sequencers and arpeggiators which
    tends to produce thin boppy tunes. And anyone who uses the word
    'Fishes' in a song deserves criticism :-). But keep the homophobia out
    of it. And comments about curing lesbians are just purile.

    I'm not homophibic in the slightest,  but it is strange that as soon as
    someone talks about necrophilia we all have a laugh.  If you look at a
    girl/boy younger than you you're a pedofile, and everyone giggles.  So
    why is it that gays should be let off from this sort of ridicule. 
    There are too many taboos in the world,  I for one hold very little in
    so much esteem that I won't take the piss,  but at the end of the day
    that is all  I'm doing.  Just the same as people take the piss out of
    me and countless others.  It's not my fault that Andy Bell is a
    "screaming bender, with no more right to live on Gods clean earth than
    a weasel"  
    
    Why shouldn't we say the word gay - are they ashamed of it and try
    hiding under the "Oh God you must be homophobic"..  
    
    Equal rights for Gays.....Bollocks  lets have equal rights for all

    For the record, Vince clarke is married with children. C'mob guy's, as
    far as mindless pop music goes, Erasure really aren't THAT bad. 
    Sounds like you're all homophobic to me - which is another way of
