| Didn't get or pick up much this year. The afetr Crimble sales are
terrible (I blame CDs!!) Anyway:
Prince - Diamonds and pearls (I expected this to be awful, but I think
its excellent).
Buzzcocks - operators Manual (good compilation)
Misty in Roots - Live at the CounterEurovision
Carmel - best of
Associates - best of
PM Dawn - heart and soul of the cross (very good, well ambient)
Lloyd Cole - Dont get wierd on me (dull)
Miles Davis - Mellow Miles (a far too mellow compilation).
Thats it for now. Anyone know of any good sales on anywhere?

| I asked for a couple I wasn't brave enough to fork out for myself:
Marc Almond: Tenement Symphony
Much more like Soft Cell than the more 'operatic' solo stuff he's done.
Heavily synthesised. Pleasant surprise, very enjoyable.
My Bloody Valentine: Loveless
Based on all the recommendations from you lot! But after a couple of
heasrings, still trying to work out what all the fuss is about. It's a bit of
a mess isn't it?! (Mind you, it took about 10 plays for me to get into the
Chapterhouse album - I'll persevere)
Happy New Year to all,
grahame

Discography.
Instead I got a CD by Ute Lemper!

I got the "Home Again" cassingle by Big Geraniums. Every home should have
one.
And my mum sent me a recording of that punk documentary shown on TV a few
months back... a pleasant surprise, because I'd forgotten to watch it.
Dave
(Who got Chas n'Daves greatest hits for christmas in 1990, and hasn't
spoken to that particular Auntie since)

Specials - compilation
Slowdive - Just for a Day. Quite good moody stuff, nice for those
evenings spent staring at the moon and sipping whiskey.

| I flew to london last Friday and dipped into Tower and the Megabore.
Could I find Operator's Manual? No, I couldn't, so it looks like -.n
got the last copy. I did pick up a copy of "In Gorbachev We Trust",
though, and that's excellent, and the two wonderful Devine and Statton
albums, so the journey wasn't entirely wasted.

Chorus (ltd) - Erasure, had indifferent reviews, but it's probably their best!
Best of Dance 91 - 32 tracks and only one filler, (the awful Vanilla Ice!)
Great album for that groovy party moment.
Happy and contented - me

952.10 | A cineaste's Christmas | ESGWST::RDAVIS | Name of the noter: Broadway Noter | Tue Jan 07 1992 17:05 | 8 |
| - Bedsheets with this funny blue and white and gray and black stripey
pattern. Some of the narrow stripes are black and white checkered like
the sprocket holes in film.
- A bathrobe, but it's too short. I like bathrobes which go ALL THE WAY
DOWN (to quote the title of one of my favorite movies).

| Some records I bought for myself:
MBV "Loveless"
I'm getting really sold on MBV grunginess. This lp is just terrific,
but I can see where it wouldn't appeal to everyone.
PM Dawn "Of the Heart etc etc"
Very good words this guy thinks up. The well-known tracks, Paper
Doll and so on, are much better than the rest.
Nirvana "Nevermind"
The best tracks are great, some of the rest are a bit forgettable,
but it has a good hard sound all the way through.
Ice T "Original Gangster"
Gotta be the dopest, flyest player around, whatever that means.
Not very politically correct. Love it - this is a great lp. It
and MBV were great buys.
Plus I got some other stuff like a new Lush ep, a short lp from Fatima
Mansions called "Bertie's Brochures" which all sound good on first listening,
but I haven't got to grips with them yet.

| Won 170 quid on the pools on the 22nd so went straight up the town,
Ride - Smile - like it a lot,
MBV - Loveless - same comment as before - didn't like it at first but
it's growing just like Chapterhouse,my of my favorite lps now.
Enigma - Principles of Lust - Video - guess why I bought the video -
very good.
Lush - For your Love [EP] - Dissapointing
Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Sessions - excellent
TMC - Blood - still deciding
House Of Love - [EP] - Girl With The Lonliest Eyes - very good
Blur T-shirt - girl is nice not so keen on the hippo - when sober.
CD ghetto blaster that's as loud as my stereo.100 watts - excellent.
stuart.

| .12 Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Sessions - excellent
Gives a whole new look to "Blue Moon" - an excellent album. Total
recording budget: $500. Cost of "the" microphone: $10,000. Fortunately,
Margo Timmins can make good use of a $10K mike.

Led Zeppelin - Remasters on CD,
Is that a telephone I can hear ringing 1:37 into 'The Ocean' and
someone really ought to oil John Bonhams highhat/bass pedals.
