939.1 | Not such a bad year really | XSTACY::NBLEHEIN | | Mon Nov 25 1991 14:58 | 22 |
| Well a few come to mind:
"You got the Love " by The Source Featuring Candi Statten
"Last Train to Trancentral " - The K.L.F.
"Get the Message" by Electronic
"The Robots" By Kraftwerk
"Planet of Sound" by The Pixies
"Loose Fit/Bobs yer Uncle" by The Happy Mondays
"What Can You Do For Me ?" by Utah Saints
"Panic" by Johhny Panic and The Bible of Dreams
Hardly a definitive list as most of the music is fairly electronic in
nature but sure there you go.

Nice list, but if you had to pick one single, what would it be?

939.3 | We are programmed just to do.. | XSTACY::NBLEHEIN | | Mon Nov 25 1991 15:28 | 8 |
| It really just depends on the mood . I can narrow it down to "Last
Train" , "You got the Love" and "The Robots".
Well I suppose it has to be "The Robots" cos the nine minute version
is really just so good ,either to listen or dance to. Of all the single
releases it's the one I'm least tired of . It really is a shame that
Kraftwerk broke up again.

939.4 | | DEFOE::JAMIE | Thunder knows all things. | Mon Nov 25 1991 16:06 | 8 |
| The Scorpions; Wind of Change was undoubtedly the best single of the
year.
Wasn't "The Robots" an ancient song by Kraftwerk that was re-released ?
I'm sure I remember it from when I used to listen to them years ago.
Jamie.

939.5 | Or was it 16... | RUTILE::MACFADYEN | a cow sez moo | Mon Nov 25 1991 16:26 | 1 |

|
939.6 | Anything you want us to | XSTACY::NBLEHEIN | | Mon Nov 25 1991 16:51 | 5 |
| It was 16 weeks. The version of "The Robots" was completley
re-recorded . It really doesn't have all that much to do with the
original version.

| The most predictable submission of the year, for single of '91
Sheriff Fatman - Carter:U.S.M , surely an anthem for urban life
in the 90's.
Stuart

939.10 | Not many good ones to choose from !!! | AYOV10::CAIRNS | Blue Period ...... Black Comedy | Tue Nov 26 1991 12:38 | 14 |

Some that spring to mind .....
'Killer' by Seal

'Sit Down' by James
'Changing my Religion' or 'Smiley Happy People' by R.E.M.
My No.1 would be the Billly Bragg one !

up to it?

939.16 | Nevermind | SCOAYR::SROBERTSON | | Wed Nov 27 1991 08:41 | 16 |

Smashing Pumkins - Siva
Curve - Frozen
If I had to pick one it would be Nirvana - a hard choice tough.

be;-)
"Did I hear U write?" by Love is Lost
"Death is a Really Heavy Bummer" by Seriously Sane
"I've got a Big One" by Ding A Ling
"I Don't Like Some Days" by The Pubescent Pratts

It came late, but I reckon John Lee Hooker's This Is Hip has to be
a contender for best single of the year, in an otherwise very barren
year.

I think so. jangly pop, with a couple of slow tracks.

939.27 | Two Sides | AYOU52::PAULC | that's just the name of the shop, dearie | Tue Dec 24 1991 11:36 | 5 |
| re -.2, I reckon "Can You Dig It" is one of the better tracks on the
album, but having said that, there's not a duff track on it. As Stuart
says, good jangly pop and one of my favourites of the year.

939.28 | Turtle Soup | IOSG::CROOKD | Richie | Mon Jan 06 1992 15:18 | 7 |
| re -.1
"Can You Dig It?" was from the Mock Turtles album "Turtle Soup"
originally, an even better album than "Two Sides" IMHO. Especially the
track "Lay Me Down". Dead funky.
Dale.
