It so happens(not willingly) Matty that I received the PSB:Seriously
promo 12" which is not my style, but on the B side of it there is a
cut called "Boring",and I must say that I like the mix.A nice surprise
to me....;)

| Jan, (long timen no speak)
`Being Boring' was out here a couple of months ago and was released on
2 separate 12"s, including that Marshall Jefferson mix that is on the
promo you mentioned. I think it's OK, but I prefer the b-side `We All
Feel Better In The Dark'. This comes in a couple of dancable mixes.

Anybody heard the PSB version of "Where the streets have no names..."
(U2)? It's weird! I'm not slagging 'em off, just commenting! =;*)
I'm not a great fan of theirs, so I might be a bit prejudiced against
them!

To turn this around the other way, I could say I won't like (say)
Kylie's next single, but then *I* haven't heard *that* yet, have I? I'm
willing to give someone whose previous output I haven't enjoyed a
chance to redeem themselves (in my ears), in the same way as I won't

| My music tastes are firmly fixed. If there's a group/singer that I
like, then I will like *any* songs they record. Likewise, if there's
a group/singer I don't like, I won't like any songs they record.
Every song the PSB's have recorded has been excellent, along with
some other of my favourite groups. So anything they release in
the future will be excellent. I have complete confidence in them.

I bought tickets for their concert in Rotterdam (Holland)

Chris and Neil probably won't run around the stage or
something. Is there a good lightshow? any dancers?
I still didn't buy Behaviour yet!

Matty,
A little note for you:
Do you remember that I asked a friend of mine to order a certain
Madonna single for you in Sweden? (it was Burning up I think!)
Well, a few weeks ago she got the reply that it was temporarily (sp??)
sold out!! I'm very sorry, but she'll try it again the next time they
order!
Cheers!

| Hi Ilse,
Re: Burning Up, no worries!
There is a very good PSB interview pread over this and last weeks
Record Mirror. Basically the PSB's want the tour to be more over the
top than the last one! They arrive in the UK in June/July and have
added quite a few new dates to the original one at the NEC.
Behaviour is a pretty good LP, but it sounds out of date compared to
the rest of the music at the moment (ie. mainly Dance music). Having
said that, there are some very good songs on there, but all the lyrics
seem to be too vague, or too obvious. Still it's worth buying.
I'm waiting for the remix 12" of `Where The Street Have No Name' (not
on Behaviour) to come out. Has anyone seen or heard and new mixes?

| Well, I finally got to hear the new PSB single (Where the streets

as the best, but the PSB were wrong to cover such a song.
The video is good too.

If you can't beleive that anyone likes this record then I assume you
must think that there must have been some dirty dealings going on to
get it to No7 in the charts.
Seriously, I have many many of both U2's and PSB's records, but at the
moment I prefer the PSB version by far. Each to his own.

| I rate both versions...
Pet Shop Boy's version is a bit tongue-in cheek. They're meant to be poking a
bit of fun at U2 for being so "revered".
I really disapprove of cover versions when a band try to copy the original too
much... Pet Shop Boy's certainly can't be guilty of that !

| I saw PSB on TOTP (what an *awful* programme) on Thursday. I didn't
know that Neil Tennant could dance!!!!
Incidentally, Neil seems to have a slight inconsistency in his
pronunciation of certain words. Most people from the North pronounce
"can't" as cant (with the 'a' pronounced as in hat) and most people
from the South pronounce it as 'carnt'. In "Where the Streets have
no name", can't is first pronounced can't (Northern-speak) and then
later in the song as 'carn't' (Southern-speak). I must admit that
when interviewed, Neil tries to speak very carefully and takes great
care in the pronounciation of words .
The song is definitely growing on me, I even went out and bought the
cassette single.

Like Billie Jean and Do It Again ... subtle but they get away with it.

| This morning I bought the "cassingle" of PSB's "Jealousy" with the
other track being their version of Sondheim's "Losing My Mind" which
PSB's produced for Liza Minelli in 1989.
Jealousy is well produced but the album ("Behaviour") version stands
out as being better, although maybe that's because my version in on
CD! But....
PSB version of Losing My Mind is truly awful. I never thought I'd
say that about a PSB song, and it's not because I'm comparing it
to LM's version. Neil sings it all out of tune, out of rhythm and,
other people will say it's nothing new, he sounds a complete and
utter prat.
Also, the other week I bought the Promotion Video with "Being Boring",
"Jealousy", "It's Alright" and a few other recent ones I can't remember
including "Where the Streets..." on. Quite good but it seems as if
they aren't putting as much effort into their videos nowadays.

stick to making decent instrumentals like "In The Night" (Clothes Show theme),
- Neil Tennant's voice gets aggravating after a while.

| "Behaviour" got the best critical acclaim of their career . It's far
and away the most rounded and consistent L.P. they've made. The 12"
remixes of "So Hard" (and there are a lot of them) and "Being Boring "
are more than just rather good .
Certainly their more recent stuff is a hell of a lot better than the

humour has been on shining for lately as have their production
capabilities . So slag off the old stuff!

IMHO
I've always considered the 1st album to be their best. It's fresher and
well crafted and not tired and well produced. I found "Behaviour" a bit
pompous apart from "We All Look better In The Dark". I prefer them when
they're being a bit more honest about themselves and poking fun at their
lifestyle.

two versions. The normal (orange cover?) version, and a rather bright
pink floppy plastic case double Cd version. For some reason, the orange
one was the normal extortionate price and the double was about 20. It
however didn't say on the packaging that the Cd was free. There have
been similar releases recently, ie Wets cubed gretest hits is either
a single or double Cd depending on what you are willing to pay. In
short I don't think the double Cd was classed as a freebie in the first
place.

Alternative is a great buy, as it duplicates nothing I've got. The only tracks

If you like the PSBs and haven't got everything, this is worth having. The
