What makes these songs so special? Why does a particular song
give you such a kick? Someone suggested it was anything that made
him jump on the cat whilst strumming away on an imaginary guitar.
I'm sure everybody has a different record for different modes,
for example when I've had a really bad day, I go home and put any
of the Stranglers first 5 albums on and swear at the walls alot,
and afterwards I feal much better. Sometimes one of Joe Jacksons
first albums gets me going when I get pissed of with particular
people.
Or Power in the Darkness by Tom Robinson when I'm feeling in
a righteous mood.
Or Tracks of my Tears by Smokey Robinson when I'm sad ( get
the violins out people.)

Haven't heard it yet Michael, so it can't be in the German
charts yet (give it time). But I like Billy McKenzie's voice
so it'll probably be OK, is it a radically different version??

re. 75 - Surprisingly, it's actually not that different from the
original. Almost the same guitar rif/sound, although (as you might
expect) McKenzie gets a wee bit carried away towards the end.
It's good though.

Also, from that same album, "Turn On The Lights"
"Turn on the lights, turn on the lights,
There's gonna be a hell of a fight,
Turn on the lights, turn on the lights,
We're gonna wreck the place tonight!"
This one will make you jump up and down and dance and sweat and.....
well, it's just a great gut-wrenching rock and roll song!

lot, plus these little crackers
I Cant Hide - Flamin Groovies
Quicksand - Bowie
Runaway Boys - Stray Cats
20 Rock'n'roll Classics / 14 Rhythm & Beat Greats - Thee Milkshakes
(anyone else got anything by this mighty combo?)
God Save The Queen - Sex Pistols
Side 1 of Mainstream - Lloyd Cole and his splendid Commotions
Idiot Wind (live off Hard Rain) - Bob Dylan
Voodoo Chile (Slight return) - Hendrix. The first time I heard this
I was about 14, it just blew me away (man). Some of the guitar playing
on it literally *scared* me, it was so far removed from anything
else I'd heard before. A classic til my dyin day, folks.
The only tune I'd heard before this that positively disturbed me
was Paint it Black - Stones. Another cracker......
Theres so many of these, I could list(en) all day......working sure
gets in the way, dont it????

Also a version of Run through the Jungle, an old Creedence Clearwater
Revival song as done by the Gun Club - is anyone else aware of this
band? They play what I can only describe as psychocountry to the
Cramps psychorocknroll. Well worth checking out if you like a bit
of graunch!
