996.12 | I got re-assigned!!!! | SUBPAC::BJUBINVILLE | CMP-6 Equipment Engineering | Wed Feb 05 1997 01:54 | 12 |

Well... at one point, our department was down 3 captains
and 4 Luit. Right now we have (6) primary trucks, (1) ladder,
(4) engines and a heavy rescue Squad that are fully manned. We have
another (9) vehicles that are misc. uses (2 amlb.). The Chief
put a Capt. and a Luit. on every truck. I was assigned to the
ladder and the Squad on a temp duty. I'm just assigned to the
Squad now. All my gear and personal clothing has L-1 or LADDER #1
all over it. Now I have to go and change everything.

996.13 | Rotation of crews | SUBSYS::HOPEWELL | StorageWorks for PC Lans | Wed Feb 05 1997 08:29 | 9 |
| In West Boylston we rotate officers and crews about every 2 years. I believe
that this gives everyone a well rounded education. In a call dept you have to
know how to do all the jobs. It also keeps peoples interest if they have to
learn something new once and awhile. I have been an engine Lt. and a rescue
Lt. When I rotate to another truck I will also get a different crew. Seems to
work for us.

re-1 our department is big enough where we really don't have to
do any formal rotation. During the day however, we are always short
handed and I'm always on different trucks. That's just because I
work nights so I can go to all of the daytime calls. From 5pm until
7am in the morning, you can only respond when yopur truck is toned
out.

We do not have any assignments. Being in a small town, we don't have
that many people responding to calls (especially during the day).
You just do whatever needs to be done.
