How about Scotland!!!!
Well that might be a bit expensive for most of you to attend so instead of
you all coming over here I'll visit you instead. Count me in for the
competition wherever you hold it.
I'd prefer it to be somewhere in New Hampshire and sometime in
September as I hope to be out there around about that time visiting
some friends, but I'm sure I can change my plans if need be.
As to the cost if I'm going to spend 400 dollars getting there and a
few hundred on hotels who cares how much the round costs!
I'll look forward to seeing you all whenever and wherever its decided.

P.S. Just like the Ryder Cup, CC III is heading back to Britain!!!!

| Re: 1 - Why not have it at Sky Meadow ? It's a real nice event, doesn't
happen very often and is anticipated all year by the players. I haven't
played in any, but I've been in the Golf Notes file for a while. It
seems to me that most of you like to play good places, and for
something like this you deserve a nice place - even if it costs a
couple of bucks more. Just my opinion...

Jack, we did have it at Sky Meadow last year. The idea was to play
a different *great* layout every year. Yes, the "Fox" has been on the
discussed list! ;^) My vote is for Ferncroft this year.

Hi Rich,
Great of you to pick up where Rick left off... tough act to
follow though , previous years went great!
I'm sure you'll have as much success... if you keep everything
the same as the last two years you can't go wrong.
format
What I would suggest you do is simply extract Rick's tourny
description/format from CC II and input it here.
Where-
We played Marlboro CC the first time, then Sky Meadow...
and they both were well liked. It appears most of the golfers
who enter are from Mass - New Hampshire area so making the
tourny too far south/west of Mass may be a problem (?) .
Maybe we could keep it simple- and traditional- and take
turns playing Marlboro + Sky Meadow . Meaning Marlboro CC
is this years course?
When-
We have been making October the time frame and it's been
awesome, most of the golfers can get an october day off
versus anything in the warmer months... I'd stick with
october... the view was spectacular last year at Sky.
hope this helped

I Think we should pick another track. A new course every year brings
variety to our golfing attributes.
There are a number of real nice layouts round these parts
I vote for the NEW Players CLub at Sterling!!
I have walked this course already with a member it's awesome!!
My $.02 - Dave Sullivan "Banquet Chairmen" Providing the new
organizer re-elects me of course.

I suppose I could delay my trip till October, I was holding off booking
anything till I knew the exact date of the CC III so that I could plan
my trip around it. As long as its not too late in October then there
shouldn't be a problem.
As to the venue all the courses will be new to me but why don't you
hold it on a course that the competitors haven't played too often so
that no one has an advantage over anyone else.
I may not win it but I'm sure going to enjoy myself playing and meeting
all you other noters. One final point please make it a course
reasonably close to a hotel so I wont have too much trouble getting
there and so that I can have a few beers afterwards without worring
about getting back.

Shaker Hills, the new course in Harvard. (I like to play courses I
don't ordinarily get a chance to play--even if it means I loose some
of the home-court advantage). Or how 'bout the Fox, or the Orchards,
or...is anyone a member of Salem, Winchester, Belmont, Wellesley, or

Hi,
Sounds like everyone wants to play a different course each year.
We could make that a tradition of the tourny....
Tom- Why not play Sterling? I've heard it's quite a course...

It is a great course (or will be), but it's MY course. And, from my
purely selfish position, I want to play someplace new and different.
That isn't to say that it wouldn't be wise for the tournament
organizers to ignore my wishes, but since the our ideas and opinions
have been generously solicited, I'm going to take advantage of that.
Now, Walta, if you'd like to challenge me to a little nassau after
I've played at S.C.C. long enough to gain a home-court advantage,
that's another story...

| As an alternative... why not play the matchs at the home course of the
winning league? If you represent a dec facility that plays a specific
dourse what better test than to have other dec facilites try and beat
you at your home course.
Tom
P.S. If you want to drop it in my back yard and play Westover CC in
Chicopee Ma. I wouldn't fight...:-)

Hi Tom,
Nassau? Did I here nassau? :)
Send me mail when you want to play, I'll be waiting... and I
hope ready!
To all -
Monoosnock CC in Leominster is my home course... it's only nine
holes par 35. But it's fun to play, and challenging. It's
a private course and usually very easy to get nine in after
work... I play there just about everyday after work. If anyone
would like to join me sometime, I usually tee-off around 4:00
- 4:30 ... just send me mail.
Boy is it nice out

| I want to focus on a location and a date:
How about........September 10 at:
- Skymeadow (about $50 per player)
- Ferncroft (about $75 per player)
- Crumin Fox (about $50 per player)
Other comments:
- Sterling CC.....I would not book it at Sterling. I visited
there last week, still alot of dust and dirt.
It some maturing. Not worth the $70 fee.
- Ipswich CC......It's open again, but no outings allowed.
My vote is to end discussion by end of April.....I'd like to go to
Crumpin Fox....I've never played there, but its getting some great
reviews.

| Last year I volunteered to run CUP III.....I could use help!
Here's my plan....
- I want to make a decision on the course and date by next
Friday (June 7) so that we can start getting players.
- If I have to run CUP III, I am going to do it at Skymeadow
(Nashua) on Sept 23. Reason.....good course....easy for me to
coordinate from TTB.
- HOWEVER....if some of you give me a call (DTN 264-2277), and
volunteer to coordinate logistics at another course, I will
consider those offers. When you call, let me know the course,
the location, and the date you have tentatively reserved with
the course.
- On Thursday, I will send a note out to all those who have called
me, with the above details; and together, we'll make a decision.
Let's get the organizing behind us and get ready for::::::::::

The back nine was the tougher nine. The fierce dogleg #11 was
the toughest hole and the downhill par 3 2nd hole was the easiest.
re: the BB's
No excuses. We were awful on the greens. Took 35 putts and missed
many short makeable birdie and par-saving putts (8 ft and less). From
tee to green we were fine with 0 penalty strokes, and really only had
trouble on #6 and #10 where we deserved bogies. Frustrating day as the
week before in a harder rain we were 2 under for the 13 holes we played
as a scramble team. I figured the leaders probably took in the range of
23-26 putts for the round and those teams that finished in the low 70s
took between 27-30 putts. 35 putts for a two man scramble team on greens
a beautiful as those, was the height of silliness. >8^{
Time to go back to the right-handed stroke for next year....
Again, congratulations to the Philosopher Kings on their fantastic
round. It wasn't even close as they were 3 shots better than their
nearest competitors. Deadly Weapons/Terminator who made a huge mistake
in judgement by changing the name of their team this year, still make a noble
defense of the Challenge Cup title by finishing in 4th place.
Oh, and we played an 18 hole round (with carts) in just under 7 hours!!
Next year we gotta cap the number of teams/people so we don't have more than
one group going off holes other than par 5's.
ARGHHHHHHH!
