Chi Chi was the biggest money, but he didn't win. Billy Casper won
in sudden death against Arney.

All Billy Casper won in playing against Arny was the final two skins...
Chi Chi won by virtue of minning the most money... I don't think
that it right that different holes are worth different amounts of
money (the first six were $10,000, the next six $20,000, and the
last six $30,000 each). Why should one hole be worth more than
another...?

Re: different holes, different prizes.
The skins is a TV show game, the players are selected by popularity,
not by another measurement (Remember Fuzzy? He was invited even when
he wasn't winnning any tournament). So it is only appropriate that
they do that kind of things to keep you watching it. They also
played it in two days, while they could easily fit it in one.

I only watched the last 15 minutes of the skins game, I thought
the anouncer said that Chi Chi was eliminated, and that only Casper
and Arny was left. And then when Casper sunk that 40 footer there
was a big whoopla about Caspter winning his 3rd skins game. Also
they made a comment about Chi Chi never winning a Skins game.

RE: .4
There were carry-overs for the skins on 17 and 18, on the next
hole (which was sudden death) Palmer and Casper got birdies and
Chi Chi and Player got pars. So, Player and Chi Chi were eliminated
from the sudden death. On the second hole of sudden death Casper
made his bird and Palmer missed, giving Casper the skins for
17 and 18...
RE: .3
Ya, I can't think of any other reason for having different cash
values for each hole, but I don't know if it would be any less
interesting if it were tha same amount for each hole...

I always thought that it was to make the pressure from carry overs &
not winning any skins increase in a non-linear fashion over time.

| The Skins game would be immeasurably more interesting if the
contestants had to put up their own money, like we weekenders do.
Perhaps they could have an auction with the highest bidders gaining
the playing spots.

| The skin's game is a media event. Nothing more, nothing less.
It a way of getting the public to tune inand watch their favorite
commercials...... I mean golfers.
It's my opinion that the winner should be that one who wins the
most holes. Disregard the cash. Also the monies won should be
donated to charity. The winner should get a free pass to the next
skins and the remaining three get asked by vertue of their seasons
performance. Wouldn't it be interesting if the had a tournament
and the top three as of sat. played the previous years winner
in a charity skins game on sunday!

I didn't hear anybody call for a press.

More specifically, Mauna Kea on the Big Island. I can't wait my wife &
I hope to play there in mid-February. It's supposed to be a great
course. Only 33 more days...but who's counting...Come on cold weather.
