144.0. "INFO needed for Old Holley 4-v" by REMACP::RICHARDSON () Thu Sep 15 1994 10:18

I have been trying to locate a rebuild kit for an *odd*
looking Holley 4v. and a replacement cost.

On the base is the number R-1074-2AS. The only other numbers
are the patent #'s and an Alcoa casting #. All parts stores I
called cannot locate the number. A few places I brought it
into never saw anything like it. I'm trying to get a replacement
value to determine what to ask for it if it goes with some other
    	stuff into Hemmings.

It was new 25 years ago and sat on a shelf in my fathers garage,
the squirels ate the box it was in. I think it was meant for
a 53 Ford 2dr Victoria w/239 Flathead my brother owned -(sold
    	about 18 yrs ago).

If you never saw an Autolite in-line 4, you'd probably have the
same comments - without knowing what *those* babies are worth...

Any ideas or places I might call?

    	Description:

    	4.5" square base
    	1.25" bores
    	7.5" tall
    	Vaccuum secondaries

I wonder what the air cleaner might have looked like?

I have the thing at my feet today (9/17) and can describe it better
over the phone or throw it on the copier and fax it someplace.

Sounds more like a carb from a mid fifties Y-block than something from a
flathead, since they only had 2 bbl carbs.

Try looking at 272 / 292 / 312 applications for '55 or '56.

Call Holley. Some of their carbs are considered OEM replacement carbs, and
kits won't be readily available, and/or the carb won't be listed. I have a
funky one on my Mustang that no one could identify.

They have a non-toll-free technical hotline (that is frequently busy). The
people I talked to were quite knowledgable. I don't have the number handy.

I found the carb in my Holley data book. It's for a 1955 Ford & Merc 292.

Ford P/N	ECK 9510V
Tag on carb	ECK-V
Holley model	4000
PEP kit	p/n	3-105
Master kit p/n	85R-412S

The kit part numbers are Holley kits. They should be able to cross them at any
decent parts place. The PEP kit is a basic kit. The master kit has more parts.

Enjoy

I've been away from work and busy in other places until now, just
got in to catch up. Thank you all for the info provided.
